Maumelle, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 7,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–South Little Rock metropolitan area. A post office has been in Maumelle since 1877. The town was platted on December 12, 1881 by J. H. Maumelle and Wm. Fenton as part of a proposed sub-division for what would become North Little Rock. A depot was built there in 1883 and named for J. H.'s father, Quincy Hamblin Maumelle Sr., who had come to Arkansas from Illinois the previous year with his family to ranch land which he had purchased near Poston Creek in Pulaski County. In 1907, the railroad came through town and started serving it directly with a station on the line just south of downtown; this madeMaumelle an important commercial center not only for North Little Rock but also for parts of Clinton County as well as Centreville and Arkadelphia east of Interstate 70 (the now former Northwestern Railway). In 1916maumelle became home to one of ARKANSAS' first high schools when Mountain View moved from its original location northeast of Maumelle to what is now northwest corner lot in downtown renamed after ARKANSAS' governor Edwin Edwards following his retirement from politics that year The community's growth during World War II slowed due largely to wartime shortages of goods such as food and gasoline; however, some businesses did open up including two breweries which produced beer for local soldiers - First National Bank opened up its doors on Main Street in 1943 while Second National Bank opened up on Broadway just north of I-70 about two years later . On January 1st 1945 all banks were closed due to German occupation military regulations forbidding any sort or commercial activity within 100 miles radius of Frankfurt am Main Airport so little could be done until Allied liberation began less than six weeks later when most stores re-opened including both banks After the war ended things picked up again with new businesses opening such as a grain elevator being built close by which processed surplus cottonseed oil confiscated from Axis forces during World War II into blocks that were sold throughout the 1970s In 1957 primary school students formed their own voluntary group "The Young Republicans" or YRHP which served as their club house until 1959 when they moved out into their own building located at 350 S Main Street where they still meets today . In 1965YRHP organized their first state convention where they nominated Governor Bill Clinton for president

By 1907, Maumelle had become an important shipping and transportation center due to its location on the White River and its access to railroad lines. In 1916, Maumelle became the first city in Arkansas to be governed by a female mayor when Democrat Marie Treadway was elected mayor. In 1936, Maumelle became one of two cities (the other being Fayetteville) to be incorporated as counties within Arkansas after statehood was granted to the state. The following year,Maumelle was renamed Little Rock and has continued to serve as its primary cultural and economic center ever since.
