It really felt like the town had always been there - even though it hadn't always been as thriving as it is now. As you can imagine, my walk around town got me fired up and inspired enough to start thinking about what it must be like living here today. And after some more reflection, I came up with a pretty good answer: It's amazing! Not only are we blessed with access to so much natural resources - such as fertile land and water sources - but also our community has remained relatively unchanged for centuries despite being constantly bombarded by new technologies and ideas. In fact, some would say that Marion is actually quite progressive for its location: We have a high level of education and opportunity here which makes us one of the most equal communities in Arkansas! However, there are still plenty of challenges facing our community; especially given how small we are geographically compared to other towns across Arkansas! Despite all these positives, however, I truly believe that if we work together - both as individuals and as a community - we can continue to grow and progress intothe future!

Marion, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,819 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Marion was founded in 1872 and named for General James Fenton Marion. The first settler in Marion was Major John Brooks who arrived there on July 5, 1872 with his family from Illinois. The first store opened in Marion on October 9, 1872 by J.B. Sledge and A.W. Brownell Jr.. In 1893 the first school was built in Marion by Wm Matson and Tacy Hiltzik with teacher Mrs Jennings as principal. On January 7, 1895 Dr Capps opened up a post office at Marion which became the county seat on November 3rd that year when Pulaski County was organized from Union County.. In 1902 an oil well was drilled at one point near present day junction of US-25 / AR-15 and AR-7 roads but no oil production ensued until 1915 when a drilling rig sunk into the ground off of mile marker 198 (now milepost 463) due to waterlogging caused by heavy rains Catrina had delivered across the state during her 1992/1993 floods which destroyed many homes and businesses along I-40 corridor throughout much of Arkansas including parts of Pulaski County except for a small enclave within Grant Parish within Orleans Parish east of Lafayette . This particular event resulted in an economic rebound for eastern Pulaski Counties with hotels & motels becoming popular tourist destinations while smaller towns experienced declined populations although some remain today such as Marble Hill which lost its status as a town after Katrina made it unlivable to live there again despite being rebuilt stronger than ever before despite still having 1800+ residents inside their municipal boundaries since then). In 1881, Marion was a small town of about 350 people. It was located in the southeast corner of Pulaski County, Arkansas. The first white person to come to Marion was John Sargent, who built a cabin on the bank of the White River in 1882. He and his family remained there until 1883 when they moved eastward to what is now Bentonville. There, Sargent started a grocery store. In 1886, J.C. McNary opened his own general store in Marion and soon developed into one of the largest merchants in the area. In 1914, McNary's son-in-law Harry Bean opened a hardware store next door to McNary's store. The two stores continued operations until 1950 when they were merged into Harry Bean Hardware Incorporated.
