Marion is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,854 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white people to arrive in Marion were a group of Methodist missionaries who founded a Baptist church there in 1841. In 1895, Marion became an incorporated village with a post office and school. A cotton gin was built in 1907 and remains active today as the town's only purpose-built industrial facility. In 1951, the Arkansas Legislature passed legislation establishing the Marion Industrial Park which included land adjacent to present-day Marion. The park opened in 1957 and has been used for various businesses including manufacturing, transportation, information technology and other services since then. In late 2017 or early 2018, it was announced that Walmart would close its doors in what would be one of the largest local job losses ever seen in Arkansas; this followed similar closures throughout much of the state over the past decade or so due to increased competition from online retailers such as Amazon and Sears etc.. This particular loss sent shockwaves through Marion as many residents had worked at Walmart over time and many have strong memories of shopping there during their childhoods or before going on to become successful professionals themselves.

Marion, Arkansas is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 2,813 at the 2000 census. It is one of the oldest towns in Pulaski County and has been around since 1858. The name Marion comes from French Marius, a French military general who fought in the Revolutionary War and later served as president of Louisiana. The first store in Marion was established by John Haines in 1858. A post office was opened in 1861, and the town began to grow rapidly. By 1865, there were seventeen stores and two churches in Marion. In 1870, the Union Pacific Railroad arrived through town and quickly started to create jobs for residents. By 1880, there were thirty-one stores and four churches in Marion. In 1902, when Pulaski County was created from parts of White County, Marion became part of it. The population hadgrown to 1,564 by 1910 but declined again during World War I due to wartime shortages of goods that could be transported easily across state lines. However, after the war ended and businesses returned to their prewar levels growth resumed until the early 1930s when a series of hard times caused many businesses to close down or merge into larger ones. There were only five stores remaining by 1935 when Prohibition began; however local politics kept many businesses open until 1933 before being shuttered entirely due to government prohibition regulations which prohibited any business with more than seventy employees from operating within three miles of any city or town without special permits from being open at all
