The history of coffee in Marion, Arkansas began with a small farmstead that grew beans and brewed coffee. In the early 1800s, the area was home to several mills that ground coffee for sale. By the late 1800s, when Marion became an incorporated town, its population had grown to over 100 people and the mill continued to produce coffee until it closed in 1903. The milling industry in Marion declined after World War I due to technological advances, but residual evidence from this time period reveals that some of the first commercially roasted coffees were made in Marion. In 1951, a group of entrepreneurs founded First National Coffee Company in Marion. This company operated a roasting plant and sold whole bean coffee to local consumers. First National Coffee Company is considered one of the earliest commercial entities involved with roasting and marketing espresso-based products. Over time, First National Coffee Company developed a reputation for quality and innovation within the espresso-focused beverage market. In 1984, First National Coffee Co.'s parent company merged into Starbucks Corporation (now known as Amazon) and all assets of First National Coffee Company were acquired by Starbucks Corporation. At Starbucks Corporation's headquarters in Seattle Washington, WA., first national beans are still roasted fresh each day on site using premium Arabica beans sourced from around the world

In 1908, a Dutch immigrant named Hendrik Roemer opened the first coffee shop in Marion. Roemer's Coffee Shop was one of the first to sell coffee beans direct to consumers. The business thrived for years and became a major player in the Marion area. In 1923, Roemer moved his business to what is now known as the Little Rock Coffee Company building, which he continued to operate until his death in 1951. His store was responsible for bringing much-needed revenue and stability to Marion during its difficult times. In 1970, Roemer's Coffee Company merged with another local business, the Arkansas Coffee & Tea Co., which would continue operating under that name until 2000.
Marion, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,748 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Joplin, AR Combined Statistical Area. Marion is located on the Arkansas River between North Little Rock and Joplin. The original settlers in Marion were named after George Washington Parish in Virginia. In 1848, a group of farmers from those areas gathered together and founded the town of Marion on land they had purchased from Waddell & Company. By 1860, there were forty-six people living in Marion In 1870, the railroad was built through Marion and soon businesses began to grow around it. The railroads promoted settlement because they provided jobs for men and made it easier for goods to be transported across state lines. Businesses that grew along the railroad became known as "railroad towns." Today, many of the businesses that once thrived around the railroads are still active today including a bank, two grocery stores/stores operated by Kroger (the largest grocer in Arkansas), a Ford dealership (now closed) and four churches which serve as community centers. Many other typical Arkansan amenities such as schools and parks also exist within minutes' walk of downtown Mariontown

The process of roasting coffee beans begins by taking the water and heat from a roast pot, liquefying it, and then adding the beans. Next, the beans are ground into a fine powder before being transferred to an oily wick for smoking. After smoking for a few minutes, the smoke is drawn off of the bean and forced through filters to remove any impurities before being bottled or sold. The history of fresh roasted coffee began with Africa where cultivation of this crop was first noted. Coffee was brought to Europe by Spanish traders in the 16th century and became popular in England during this time. In 1795, Dutch traders shipwrecked some coffee seeds on Madagascar and began growing this species there as well. French traders then imported these plants back to France where they were used to produce their own espresso drinks. By 1825, most all of Europe had access to fresh-roasted coffee thanks to British explorers who sailed into Africa searching for new sources of revenue. These pioneers played a huge role in developing not only coffee but also other agricultural products such as cocoa and sugar cane

Marion is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Arkadelphia–Fayetteville–Springdale Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1887 by residents of nearby Indianola and became a municipality in 1907. The first settler in Marion was John Fenton, who arrived around 1827. He named his land "Marion" after his home town in England. In 1887, the community's first post office opened and processed mail from Indianola and other nearby towns until 1915. In 1907, Marion became a municipality when it merged with surrounding towns. That year, a bridge over the Little River was built to connect the two municipalities. At that time, Marion consisted of just a few homes and businesses along Main Street. By 1920, however, the population had increased to 2,000 people and development began on what would become Marion's current downtown area including four blocks of commercial buildings on Front Street between Second and Third Streets. By 1930, most of what is now downtown Marion had been built up and commerce had taken center stage in the community again as growth continued northward along Fourth Street towards White Sands Lake; this stretch of Main Street today remains one of my favorite streets in all of Arkadelphia because it runs past some great shopping opportunities (including several jewelry stores) before terminating at US-4 which leads into Johnson City proper about an hour away from town limits). 2
In 1871, Marion was named after General John C. Marion who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The town was established on a large plain near what is now Pine Bluff and first developed as a farming community. In 1915, the Arkansas Department of Transportation constructed the first paved road in Arkansas, which led to increased development in Marion. In 1932, Marion incorporated as a town and adopted its own government. The town experienced rapid growth following World War II and continued to develop until it fell victim to economic recession in the late 1990s.
