Jonesboro is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 9,468 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Sandy Springs Metropolitan Area. Jonesboro was founded in 1883 by John Hulbert and named for General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Jonesboro is located in southern Pulaski County on the Arkansas River. The community was established in 1883 when John Hulbert organized a wagon road from Pine Bluff to Bentonville to build trade connections with nearby Arkansas towns such as Fort Smith and Fayetteville.
