In 1944, soldiers from Camp Robinson burned down Hot Springs' old arsenal to prevent it from being taken over by Japanese forces while they were planning an attack on Japan Harbor based on information gleaned from Lockheed espionage activities at that time; this event is known as "The Battle of The Arsenal." In 1951, when President Truman designated Hot Springs as headquarters for United States Forces Africa (USFAA),hotels and other accommodations were donated by local businesses to provide temporary lodgings for service members on their tour throughout Africa; these facilities continued until 1993 when they were replaced by Headquarters USFAA at Macon Air Force Base near Atlanta Georgia due to budget cuts at that facility). Hot Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 1,859 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Central Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The townsite was laid out by members of the Baptist church in 1887 and named for General John Pemberton Hotchkiss, who had been a cavalry general during the American Civil War. In 1922, three churches were consolidated to form United Methodist Church and renamed Hot Springs denominations (First Methodist, Second Methodist, and United Pentecostal). By 1975, all six churches had merged into United Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church which remains today as one of the two original churches in Hot Springs. The first people who set foot on what is now Hot Springs were mountain men working for fur traders on the upper Great Lakes. A post office called "Pulaski" was established in 1887, but no mail arrived there until 1895 because of railroad construction across Arkansas at that time. In 1903, Pulaski incorporated as a town under the name "Hot Springs". The first mayor was Denton Caddo; he served from 1903 to 1915. From 1915 to 1932, it was Mayor James Ewing's office; he also led the effort to build what is now known as downtown Hot Springs around Courthouse Square and Main Street (now First Avenue). During World War II more than 50000 soldiers from various units stationed here fought in Europe and Japan; many are buried at Fort Hays State Park nearhot springs while others are still commemorated with headstones at local cemeteries such as Arlington National Cemetery or Dogwood Hills Cemetery just outside of town limits

Hot Springs is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The name Hot Springs comes from the springs located there. The first settlers in what is now Hot Springs were cattle rustlers and slaves who had to move to avoid being caught by Confederate forces during the American Civil War. They set up a trading post near present-day downtown Hot Springs on July 24, 1875, which they named "Arkansas Post." In 1876, General James H. Wilson's army passed through Hot Springs and left behind a mess of cannons and horses that still can be seen on Main Street today: one cannon for each infantry regiment that marched through town! In 1886, a group of men from Jonesboro began building what would become known as the Arkansas State Capitol Complex (now home to both the Arkansas State Senate and House of Representatives). construction started on May 15th and ended on October 10th; it was completed in time for General David Hunter's inauguration as Arkansas' 34th governor on November 3rd! On December 21st 1907, Sarah Winchester shot an unprovoked attack upon her father-in-law John McDaniel at his ranch outside Springdale while he was returning from purchasing supplies necessary for his ranch operations. This event precipitated western "Wild West" lawlessness that lasted until 1860 when federal troops arrived to round up outlaws and return them to their states - this also started the end of slavery in Texas!
