Hot Springs is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Cool Spring Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlement in what would become Hot Springs was made on December 10, 1879 by J. B. Moffitt and Fenton Waddell as a result of the location's strategic location next to two water sources: Big Spring and Arkadelphia Wells. In 1902, A. Henson established a post office in what is now Hot Springs; it served until 1928. In 1915, during World War I, General John Pershing visited Hot Springs while on his way to victory over the Ottoman Empire at Thermopylae Ridge. He stayed at the Hotel George Washington for three days and ordered food delivered to his troops stationed there daily because he could not find any stores open in Hot Springs at that time due to prohibitionism by then Ulysses S. Grant’s administration which had been enacted following World War I as part of the Volstead Act (1917). On November 30, 1935, when much of Pulaski County including Hot Springs were burned during an uncontrolled fire that started near White Sands Missile Range northwest of town, 1,500 citizens participated in a massive civil defense effort called "Operation Dixie". The fire destroyed or damaged more than 150 businesses and homes with no loss of life reported; however about $10 million worth of property damage was done with many people forced from their homes for weeks or months after the fire burned through most of downtown Hot Springs and other areas within easy reach of it. A plaque recognizing this event exists at City Hall in nearby North Little Rock where continuing efforts are being made to rebuild some lost buildings since 2000 as part of Arts & Culture Night Out Trips that rotate among different neighborhoods within town each year-end nightfall/early morning

Hot Springs is a small town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock-South Little Rock Combined Statistical Area. The first permanent settlement in Hot Springs was made by white men on July 4, 1882 when they built a cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River. The first post office in Hot Springs was established in 1886. By 1899, there were five businesses and twenty-one residents in Hot Springstown. On November 5, 1912, during World War I, General John J. Pershing ordered General Leonard Wood to attack an enemy trench at Belleau Wood near Hot Springs. When Pershing's order arrived at the battlefield early that morning local residents heard about it and began to assemble their weapons and gather supplies for battle which would soon take place On November 12th 1917 during World War I Japanese forces attacked American troops around Belleau Wood near Hot Springs after learning that American troops had discovered food storage caches along the way They looted and burned many food stores before withdrawing back into Japan . In 1919 when America defeated Japan in World War II General Dwight D Eisenhower celebrated Christmas with aLive Naming of Soldiers Parade through downtown Hot Springs where he presented medals to soldiers who fought in WWII For years following WWI there was no public school within town limits until a new building constructed in 1954 opened as Central High School . In 1957 two new schools were added to the community; Southern Union Academy (now Eastern Mennonite University) and Parkway Elementary School (now Parkway Middle School). A three story brick high school named for former Mayor Laddie Ritchie opened its doors on September 15th 1961 across from Central High School . In 1990 another new school – Western Polytechnic Institute – replaced Parkway Elementary School which closed its doors on August 30th 1991 due to financial problems . After State funding ran out for both Western Polytechnic Institute and Central High Schools , students attended nearby Sunset Community College until 2001 when both institutions merged into one campus known as South Mountain Community College which still operates today
Hot Springs, Arkansas is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 10,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The city was founded on July 1, 1871 by John C. Goodyear as part of a railroad town growth in central Arkansas. The first post office was opened in Hot Springs on December 7, 1872 with David Ladd as the first mail carrier. The name Hot Springs came from a mineral spring that had been used by early travelers for centuries to soothe their aches and pains. In 1915, JF Dutton became the first Mayor of Hot Springs when he won election against incumbent John Fenton. In 1916, he unsuccessfully ran for re-election to a second term after being elected as an Independent candidate without winning any votes from the Democratic Party caucus or primary voters. In 1922–23 W H Robinson served concurrently as Mayor and City Councilman; however his service terminated when he resigned to become Mayor pro tempore of Little Rock following the death of W N Glover II who had served since 1911 as mayor pro tempore.. In 1924 Harry Elkins (D) succeeded Robinson to succeed W H Robinson on the City Council; however his service ended one year later when he died suddenly at age 44 while serving on councilmember emeritus status.. In 1929 Don Armstrong replaced Don Elkins on the City Council and held that position until his retirement effective January 1st, 1984 effective upon expiration of his term which commenced September 30th . Armstrong also served consecutively from November 3rd through December 3rd during what was then termed “The Great Depression” era ; however no proclamation has ever been issued recognizing this event .
