In that year, two businessmen named John and Harry Baer bought a small shop on the corner of First Street and University Boulevard. They started selling ground coffee from a pot on the premises. Over time, other local people joined The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf as customers. By the early 1940s, the shop had increased its size to four storefronts. In 1951, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf opened its first store outside of Arkansas. That location was at 411 S Highway 280 in Rogers City, Missouri. At that time, it was one of the few small-town coffee stores in America. Other than selling coffee beans direct to consumer through mail order or through franchising arrangements with larger shops like Jamba Juice and Dunkin' Donuts (note: Dunkin' Donuts did not open their own small batch coffee until 1974), The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf operated primarily as a retailer for other cafes across town (e.g., Starbucks). The Baers passed away in 1972 and their son John succeeded them as owner/manager of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Store #2 in Hope, Arkansas. Through his ownership and management career at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Store #2, John helped develop what is now known as small batch coffee brewing method into an industry-wide norm within many cafes today (note: This means that all cafe owners use some form ofsmall batch brewing method - even if they don't call it that!). In this paper we will explore the various ways small batch coffee can be affected by these environmental variables. The first group of environmental variables is Weather. The most important factor that affects coffee is weather; whether it is in an urban area with high temperatures all year round or on a cold mountain winter day. If the weather is too warm or if there are frequent rainstorms then beans will rot and release their oils which may cause harsh flavors and poor aroma. On the other hand, if the weather is cold and overcast then beans will not germinate as well and result in low quality coffee. Coffee from areas with unstable climates often has more volatile oils (such as nicotine) that those from areas with stable climates. Finally, when ground coffee goes into different brewing methods such as French press or black pour-over it becomes exposed to a variety of chemicals that affect flavor and bitterness (see below). All three groups of environmental variables listed above have an effect on how small batch coffee tastes: Weather (temperature), Brewing Method (French Press vs Black Pour-Over), and Chemical Exposure (various chemicals). Brewers should take into account these factors when making their own batches of coffee because each variable affects every individual cup differently. However, brewers cannot control all three variables which means they must work together to create a perfect blend for their customers' needs!

Hope, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,500 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Arlington metropolitan area. Hope was founded in 1901 by Methodist missionaries from Missouri. Hope's first post office was established in 1902. In 1903, the community had a school and one store. In 1907, Hope had two churches and a sawmill. A fire destroyed most of the community on November 3, 1910. The original growth of Hope slowed after World War II when many people left for jobs or other places in larger towns nearby. However, during the late 1990s and 2000s there has been an increase in development around town as new residents move to Hope seeking access to quality education and businesses that offer services such as health care and grocery shopping nearby. Hope is home to several important historical sites including: The Morrison-Lambert House which once served as the administrative center for Pulaski County; First Baptist Church (now known as Prairie View A&M University) which was built in 1903; and Ponderosa Lodge No 11 which functioned as a military barracks during World War I before becoming home to both local schools (Pulaski High School & Central School) and various government agencies (such as the Arkansas State Capitol). In recent years there have also been efforts made to make Hope moreEVENTIVELY its own city with plans for an eastern edge addition/ redevelopment complete by 2020/2021 with employment opportunities for locals along with educational institutions like Prairie View A&M University on either side of town should this vision become reality

The first modern Smallbatch Coffee Roasters appeared in the early 2000’s when Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf decided to start brewing their own small batches of high quality beans in-house. This led to an explosion of interest in small batch coffee and its many flavors and variants. Today, there are Hundreds of Smallbatch Coffee Roasters around the World selling their unique blends and coffees.
