Hope, Arkansas is an American town located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. Hope is the county seat of Pulaski County. Hope was founded in 1868 by Methodist missionaries who were looking for a new home for their congregation after traveling to several locations in central Arkansas. The original town site was on the side of a mountain and it took many years before there was enough development to support a post office and school. In 1907, Hope incorporated as a city and soon became known as one of the leading towns in central Arkansas. Today, Hope is a booming community with vibrant businesses and thriving families. The history of Hope begins with Methodists who founded the town in 1868 because they wanted to find another place to live after traveling throughout central Arkansas looking for a new home for their church congregation. Many people attribute this settlement to missionary work conducted by Methodist Godparents William Witherspoon and Mary Jane McCulloch during the late 1800s when Central Arkansas was still primarily frontier territory where settlers frequently clashed with Native Americans. However, even before these faith-based pioneers had settled permanently in Hope Valley, they were hard at work building churches and schools that would serve the surrounding community over time. In 1907, when Hope incorporation occurred, it quickly became one of the most successfully developed cities within Pulaski County due to its strong economic foundation which included numerous small businesses clustered around downtown including grocery stores (one owned by Owen Kellar), lumberyards (owned by James Fenton), insurance companies (owned by Homer Hanks), banks (owned by JF Darling & Co.), doctor’s offices (owned by Dr John Aiken), restaurants (including White House Cafe & Tavern) and more! Today’s bustling downtown area has become an important part of life for residents long accustomed to excellent shopping opportunities at local boutiques and specialty stores as well as easy access to major highways that make shopping convenient both inside and outside of town center! although some smaller businesses have been eliminated or relocated since 2007 due to changes within our economy or changing consumer preferences however overall we can say that downtown has continued its successful growth despite challenges faced from other parts of our community such as gentrification issues which are impacting certain areas near downtown while also promoting residential development adjacent thereto

In 1912 it had only six residents and was known as a farming community. By 1920, Hope had developed into a small town with a population of 350 people. However, during World War II Hope became an important military base because of its location on the Little Rock-Jefferson City Highway. Many office buildings were built near Hope during this time period and the town's economy boomed as soldiers came to work in local businesses and farms. In 1971, when Pulaski County merged with neighboring Cottonwood County, Hope lost all its government functions but still retains its name and ZIP code
Hope, Arkansas was founded on December 12, 1837. The town was named for the hope that God would provide for its residents. Hope grew rapidly and by 1840 had a population of over 100 people. In 1845, the first schoolhouse was built in the town. A post office was organized in 1847, and by 1850, Hope had a total population of 230 people. A gristmill and sawmill were built in 1851-1852. The first store opened in Hope in 1857. By 1860, Hope had a population of 530 people and a school system with six classrooms and 26 students. A canal was built through the town in 1865 and trade increased until 1870 when it closed due to flooding. By 1880, Hope had a population of 1,000 people and anvils were being made from local limestone to supply Kirksville with goods during the American Civil War (1860-1865). The town suffered great loss during the war as many homes were destroyed or burned down; however, within five years after the end of hostilities+,Hope's economy had returned to normal thanks to new business ventures such as lumbering and general merchandizing
