Hebron, Arkansas is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 786 at the 2010 census. Helena West Helena is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Central Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name Hebron comes from the Hebron Hills located near the town. The hills are named for Elijah Abel and his family who settled there in 1881. Abram West also settled there around this time and ran a grocery store until he died in 1906. In 1912, Johnnie Sutherlin bought the store and continued to run it until his death in 1959. Hageman's Store was opened by Hiram Hageman in 1892 as a general store with goods used primarily for agriculture and livestock sales. A post office called Hebron was established in 1893, and remained in operation until it been discontinued in 1907. A Methodist church was built on Main Street in Hebron about 1910; it served as the town's first civic building until 2005 when it was destroyed by a fire

Helena West Helena was a town in Washington County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,024 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock metropolitan area. Helena West Helena was founded in 1881 by Methodists and Baptists. The original business district included what is now the downtown core of Little Rock. The first post office at Helena West Helena opened on December 6, 1881. It was located on State Street between First and Second Streets. In 1903, it relocated to Fourth Street between Broadway and Constitution Streets. In 1907, it merged with nearby Arkadelphia to form a new town called "West Helena." West Helena became an important transportation center for the region due to its location close to both Arkansas state routes 9 and 40. Railroad tracks crossed through the town from east to west and north to south. In 1930, the Arkansas General Assembly passed a bill authorizing the erection of a public school system in Washington County which would include two schools in each of four towns within its boundaries:Arkadelphia (west of Bellefontaine Road), West Helena (southwest of Bellefontaine Road), Bellefontaine (northwest of Broadway Avenue), and East Holly Springs (east of Broadway Avenue). On October 14, 1930, voters approved the formation of this new school system with three schools in each town: one in Arkadelphia; one in West Helena; one in Bellefontaine; and one in East Holly Springs. The attendance figures for these original schools have not been released but they were probably around 3000 students per school when they opened their doors back then-much higher than today'sstudent enrollment rates across most small towns or rural areas where there are only two or three high school graduates out per capita means that even if all current students had stayed with their old schools during those early years there would still be many more students than currently attending eligible local high Schools given that some 10-15% or so kids graduating from high School eventually leave for either college or other work opportunities outside their home communities once they've completed their undergraduate studies-a trend that has continued unabated throughout recent decades despite efforts by educators statewide(and indeed beyond)to bring about parity among traditional public/private educational institutions BY NO MEANS POORLY!
