The first recorded mention of maga coffee was made by an Italian immigrant named Carlo Malaspina in 1915. He described a drink called “Maga” which he said was “milky and sweet like chocolate cake”. After World War II, many African Americans returned to Arkansas and started businesses owned by them such as The Coffee House again. As more people moved into town, they started buying maga coffee from local vendors. Over time, different companies began selling maga coffee including American Maga Roasters (now known as Flying Fish), Africa Biscuits & Tea Company, and Starbucks Corporation.
Forrest City is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Central Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Forrest City was founded in 1907 by J.C. "Fritz" Forrest and his family after they were forced to abandon their farmstead while traveling through Arkansas on their way to California. The first post office in Forrest City was established in 1907, and the current post office opened in 1966. Forrest City is named for Fritz Forrest, who helped found the town and donated land for it. The name "Forrest" may also be derived from General James Wilkinson's Cherokee word "hforresta". The main businesses in Forrest City are manufacturing, agriculture, service industry, and tourism. In 2000, Forest City became home to the world's first commercial wind turbine farm when Vestas installed turbines on a new golf course located adjacent to its downtown business district. The village also has a water park which opened in 2002 andan amusement park which opened in 2004 called Cedar Point Park & Water Park. In 2009-2010, during the Great Recession%, many small businesses closed or went out of business due to low economic prospects within Pulaski County as well as throughout Arkansas overall$. To help revive these small businesses and create jobs within Pulaski County; an initiative known as "Downtown Development Initiative" was launched by then Pulaski County Executive Mike Beebe with the assistance of local businessmen/women who had experienced difficulty finding success outside of downtown Little Rock since before he took office six years earlier†† *.
