The Arkansas National Guard was organized on July 1, 1907 as the first state guard organization in the United States. The National Guard was authorized by the National Defense Act of 1916. The act barred states from organizing militias and created a national guard to serve as an armed reserve for the federal government. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department initiated negotiations with the Arkansas National Guard Command to purchase rifles and other equipment for use in World War I. In October 1917, the sheriff's department sent a letter to Governor John Wickersham offering to provide personnel and equipment for use in World War I. The governor accepted and ordered his cabinet to mandate that all El Dorado County residents contribute one dollar each towards arming the county militia. In 1922, Governor Aiken amended the State Constitution to allow citizens of any U.S. state who are citizens of El Dorado County or any political subdivision within its borders to become members of the Arkansas National Guard if they reside in that county for at least six months during every calendar year since 1923; provided they maintain their membership with no interruption for more than three years total while living in another U.S. state or country simultaneously (other than service in active military duty). This amendment also granted citizenship and jus soli status to Guardsmen who were discharged from service or resigned from their unit before attainment of naturalization status within five years after being mustered into service, regardless of whether they had served continuously on active duty or only part time (i.e., Eagle Scouts could not join until their third year after reaching full age). On November 12, 1927, Governor Fenton signed legislation creating an honorary colonelcy position vacant due to death or retirement of Major General James Hance which became known as "The Colonelcy" designation which remained until 1933 when it was replaced by "The Lieutenant Colonelcy." On December 10, 1932, acting lieutenant colonel Jock Ewing assumed command over all aspects related thereto effective January 1 following Major General Harry Tilton's retirement effective September 30th (see below). On February 17th 1935 Governor Barnes issued Order No 3-5 providing form necessary for members thereof desiring affiliation with any organization outside this state including but not limited to orders received through secret channels authorizing formation or affiliation with organizations abroad which have caused dissension among our people here at home
The National Guard is a reserve force of the United States that is authorized by law to provide emergency assistance, including military personnel and equipment, in time of civil or military insurrection or emergency. The National Guard was organized on July 1, 1903 through an act of Congress and consists of two parts: the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. The Army National Guard comprises about 132,000 soldiers and airmen who are called up for service as needed on short notice; while the Air National Guard has only around 60,000 members but they can be called up to serve in any war zone. There have been many occasions when members of both national guard units have found themselves called upon to help out their fellow citizens during times of strife. For example, in 1971, after a series of riotsingenowned by right-wing groups broke out across America,[1] Texas Governor John Connally activated the state's national guard unit to help quell disturbances which had started at night near Austin's then-new University Campus. In 1980, following a boycott campaign orchestrated by labor unions against then-president Jimmy Carter's plans to reduce defense spending,[2] Michigan's state militia was mobilized to support local police officers during what became known as "theBattle for Midtown".[3][4] And just last year, after mass shootingshtmelonization throughout the U.S., Ohio's state guard unit was put into action to provide security at various events such as Columbus Day parades and Easter egg hunts.[5][6] Although not all states authorize full mobilization of their national guardsmen for wartime purposes (Hawaii being one notable exception), there is no question that activation of these forces provides comfort and deterrence should something going wrong happen within the borders of the United States. It also allows people who may feel like they don't have anything else left to offer their community some level of stability in these difficult times - something that might be lacking if things were solely handled through regular law enforcement channels. El Dorado is the name of an ancient settlement in Arkansas that was once one of the most important cotton plantations in the United States. The town, located in Pulaski County, was founded by white settlers in 1836. It became a commercial center for the region and remained so until the late 19th century. The town was destroyed by a fire in 1881 and its residents were forced to flee. Today, El Dorado is a small community located within Pulaski County. The town first attracted attention because it had been discovered by traders along the Arkansas River when they arrived in what is now Arkansas in 1802. After some initial exploration, no settlements were established at El Dorado until 1836, when white settlers began to arrive there from Kentucky and Tennessee. The town's founders were motivated to find an answer to their local demand for cotton because production on nearby farms had declined since 1800 due to factors such as technology improvements and cheaper labor available from other areas of America. The first buildings were erected around 1840, but it wasn't until after independence was granted to America that development could take place at full speed. At that time, El Dorado became one of the most important cotton plantations in the area and employed over 1,500 workers. In 1860, when slavery began to be abolished throughout much of America, many of these jobs went away as slaves switched to free labor on other plantations across Southeast Texas and Louisiana. However, those who stayed behind continued working on El Dorado until after World War II when it closed down completely due to lack of resources and competition from other more developed areas in Arkansas. Today there are few reminders remaining of what once was an important community located within Pulaski County; however, visitors can visit several restored buildings which include a schoolhouse ( Constructed 1840), Baptist Church ( Built 1861), Masonic Lodge ( Built 1865), Presbyterian Church (Built 1870), Store ( built1881) and post office building (1927). Additionally there are several streets named after key figures associated with early Pulaski County history such as Alexander Stephens (1775-1840) who served as Governor during Reconstruction period following American Civil War; John Wesley Hardin (1826-1912) who helped develop agriculture here;Judge Royce Lamberton Ramsey Jr.(1945-2018) who represented Pulaski County on various state commissions;and Drayton Worsham(1948-present) CEO/President at First National Bank Of Little Rock

The area became an important stop on the Santa Fe Trail, and early settlers developed a economy based on agriculture, ranching, and extraction of minerals. The county seat of El Dorado was founded in 1836, and growth declined during the Great Depression. However, development has returned since then and there are plans to make El Dorado a cultural center with museums and other attractions.
The El Dorado area was first settled by the Wichita people in the 17th century. The area became a part of the United States in 1821. In 1865, a group of settlers led by General James Fenton traveled to Arkansas and found what is now El Dorado County. They named the area for Lord El Dorado, who was known for his gold mines in California.
