The Conway, Arkansas National Guard was first organized on November 3, 1907. The Conway unit was the 107th Infantry Regiment and was mobilized for service in World War I. On September 11, 1923, the 107th Infantry Regiment was redesignated as the 153rd Infantry Regiment. It served in World War II and also during the Korean War. The regiment’s colors were retired in 1957 and it became part of the Arkansas Army National Guard. In 1999, the 153rd Infantry Regiment’s Colors were again withdrawn from use and they were placed into storage at an armories in Hot Springs until they could be restored to their original design by a local group. On October 1, 1999 these colors were finally returned to use as part of a ceremonial parade through downtown Conway celebrating its 125th anniversary. Throughout its history, the Conway National Guard has been known for its dedication to patriotism and service to our country. Some of this service has included participating in various national events such as parades and military ceremonies. Additionally, members have also volunteered their time to serve with other organizations such as American Legion posts or disaster relief efforts. In recent years there have been several requests made for donations of both uniforms and equipment from members of the Conway military community; however no decisions have yet been made about where these items will be stored or how they will be used when needed most.
The United States national guard is a military reserve force of the United States that is composed of National Guard units from across the country. The National Guard was established on July 1, 1935 as a result of the banking crisis that struck the country during the Great Depression. At its peak in 1939, there were over 260,000 members in the National Guard. Since then, membership has declined and today there are just over 100,000 men and women who serve in the National Guard. The Guardsmen have played an important role in America's political landscape for centuries. In 1812-14, when President James K. Polk was fighting against Mexico onthe border of Texas and New Mexico, his forces were supplemented by militia from Missouri and Kentucky. After Mexican independence was gained in 1821, militias from those states helped to quash a rebellion led by General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Since 1890 when Congress passed The Militia Act which authorized arms purchase for state militias while still loyal to the U.S., American citizens have had access to automatic rifles (known as Colt pistols) within 24 hours of purchase at gun shows or other licensed dealers throughout America; this right has been extended to shotgun purchases as well (but not rifle purchases). Automatic weapons can be exported but must be registered with Customs and returned immediately upon departure; this restriction has been lifted since 1986[1]. Today's militia is made up of professional soldiers who are organized into brigades ("regiments"), companies (tribes), battalions (squadrons), groups (squads), squadrons (flying squads) and platoons/sections/tracks("troop columns"). Each brigade typically contains about 2200 soldiers divided into two infantry battalions each including artillery support; brigades also contain three engineers battalion each plus signals detachment; company commanders lead their troops through training exercises before deployment to battle where they will act as executive officers taking charge of their troops' movements ashore ashore or airborne without direct order from higher headquarters; these troop columns travel light on vehicles providing them with limited air cover should combat become more protracted than expected either ashore or airborne operations would allow In addition to Regular Army infantry formations called Armor Troops which protect vital installations such as nuclear plants & dams etc., Air Defense Artillery Units provide protection against aerial attack
The Conway National Guard was organized on December 12, 1917. The original unit numbered 156 men and was composed of volunteers from Conway, Lincoln County, and neighboring counties. On October 15, 1918 the military arm of the local high school was activated for service in World War I. On November 1, 1941 the Conway National Guard Unit #5 began operations as a rotational unit at Fort Smith Army Airfield. It became an all-volunteer force on October 2nd 1942 when the United States entered World War II. The unit served through the war with distinction both in battle and at home. After the war ended on September 8th 1945 there were still several thousand men remaining in Conway units including #5 which became part of Troop E (Air Defense) within Air Force Base Northwest Arkansas stationed at Sweetwater Field near Little Rock until its activation as a permanent air defense squadron in 1949. Today one hundred years after it first mobilized their members to fight for their fellow citizens, Conway's national guard unit still colors are flying waved by members who proudly serve our country every day!
Conway, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is the capital of Pulaski County. The history of Conway goes back to 1838 when John W. Conway and his family settled in what is now Conway. In 1865, General Andrew J. Humphrey's Union army invaded Arkansas and burned down the courthouse and many other buildings in this small community on the edge of Little Rock (the day before Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered). This event destroyed much of downtown Conway but also left the town with a lasting symbol - a large "H" in midfield on Main Street which still stands today

That same year also marked the opening of what is now known asthe Conway Mall which occupies an entire block near Central Avenue and McDowell Road.
