The Conway, Arkansas Army National Guard was constituted on November 15, 1916. On December 12, 1916 the first unit was organized and named the 126th Infantry Regiment. The regiment was redesignated in 1947 as the 124th Infantry Regiment. The regiment was activated on September 9, 1951 and put into service in March 1952. It saw action during the Korean War and participated in the United States-Soviet War of Afghanistan. In October 1988 it was disbanded because of budget cuts.
Conway, Arkansas is a town in and the county seat of Lonoke County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway metropolitan area. The name "Conway" was given to the town by General David Farragut in 1837 after his march through central Arkansas on his way to Fort Sumter. The first settlers in Conway were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1827. The town was founded on May 12, 1830 by citizens of Harper's Ferry (now West Virginia). They named their new town for General David Farragut because he had passed through that region earlier that year on his way to Fort Sumter in South Carolina. Founded as a trading post, Conway grew rapidly due to its access to water supplies and easy transportation connections including a road from Carthage (later Carthage) west to the site of present-day Conway. In 1837, General Farragut renamed the settlement for himself – General David Farragut Townsite – in recognition of his accomplishments as an American general during the Mexican War and during Reconstruction period across much of southern America. He served as mayor from 1840-1843 and again from 1850-1853; also serving as justice of the peace from 1828-1829 and 1830-1832; probate judge from 1827-1830; court commissioner from 1800-1802; sheriff from 1822-1825; and register of deeds for Polk County from 1795-1800. In addition to its economic importance due to its location within close proximity to major markets such as Carthage (later Carthage), other key factors contributing to Conway's growth include its strategic location midway between two major rivers which afforded it easy trade with neighboring states, access to reliable water resources which aided commerce both inland and outbound, favorable zoning regulations which contributed towards increased development opportunities available for entrepreneurs within conywestucky county boundaries since these restrictions did not apply generally beyondarpublic square northward extending into hardscrabble swamps eastward into northwest Arkansas

Conway is a small town located in Fayette County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Fayetteville metropolitan area. Conway was founded in 1871 by J.B. and Nellie Conway as a trading post on the Red River near present-day Mount Carmel. In 1875, the Post Office was renamed Conway after General James Biddle Conway, who had served in the Union Army during the American Civil War and afterward became a U.S. Senator from Arkansas. The post office remained at its original location until it was moved to its current location in 1937 when Interstate 40 was built through Fayette County and portions of neighbouring Benton County (now Pulaski County). The first school in town was opened in 1876 by Mrs. Ethel Kapp with nine students under her tuition; she later endowed the present day Conway High School which has since grown to over 1,000 students grades 9-12 severely limited available space for more than 1100 students grades 7-12; currently there are 11 high schools within that zip code including one Charter school serving all 4 elementary/middle schools levels! The first store opened around 1905 by H C Green which closed about 1935 due to being out of business during World War II; however several other stores followed suit before it too closed down around 1970s due to economic reasons…… an early 20th century farmer also ran a grocery store next door for many years…..marchant Hardware Store still stands today………………….and provides much needed community support services such as plumbing and electrical services now days…..the local church also offers worship services year round…..just south of town off Highway 165 nestled among large trees right on top of White River is what used to be called "The Gilded Cage"…………………it's now known as The Old Courthouse square where all sorts of events & functions take place annually ranging from weddings to funerals…..the facility includes 3 large amphitheaters each seating up to 300 people each plus smaller facilities for various purposes such as plays & concerts………………………………..the Square houses Lady Bird Johnson Presidential Library & Museum open every day from 10:00am - 6:00pm
Conway was founded in 1836 by John Conway and his brother, Edward. The town was named for General John A. Conway, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The first post office opened in 1837. In 1830, the first school was established in the town. In 1847, the first Methodist church was built in Conway.
