Bryant, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–AR City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bryant was started by George Bryant in 1875 and incorporated as a town in 1907. The name "Bryant" comes from the Choctaw word bria meaning white man or European traveler. In 1875, George Bryant moved to what is now Bryant and decided to start a new life for himself and his family on the land he had purchased two years earlier from John Crouch. He named the property "Bryant" after his father-in-law, James Aikenberry of Massachusetts who had been with him on his ill-fated attempt to find wagon roads across central Texas three years earlier. In 1907, when Arkansas became an official US state, General Order No. 1 instructed all towns in Pulaski County to submit plans for forming a municipal government that would include Streets and Sanitation departments like those now found in every other incorporated town in Arkansas. With only thirty days left until deadline, George Bryant submitted plans for an unincorporated community called "Bryant". The first public meeting of the newly created municipality was held on November 3rd of that year and unanimously approved by all present including George's son Byron who served as Mayor during its early years On July 15th 1912 there was another unanimous approval by all present when residents voted to change the name of their municipality from "Bryant" to "Arkansas City". This action followed similar efforts made by citizens of other nearby towns which were vying for territory within Pulaski County given that they felt they deserved equal representation within their own jurisdictions In 1935 both entities were merged into one full municipality under the nameArkansas City Municipal Corporation with Byron being elected Mayor once again The current form of government date back to 1955 when voters passed a resolution asking for charter amendment making changes thereto such as creating more than one School Board member instead of two as currently exists; changing water/sewer services into municipally owned systems; amending zoning ordinances; providing citizen service committees which are empowered with authority over various areas including but not limited to building permits; and setting up obligatory budgets . On election night over ninety percent (91%) of those voting approved amendments which gave rise to controversy since many felt that this type of democracy did not represent their needs adequately Today there are six School Boards members (insteadof two) with responsibility for issues such as building permits; streets & sanitation; electric services; business licenses & registrations etc.; while also having operational control over Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), fire suppression apparatus & emergency medical response

Bryant is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Springdale, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bryant was founded in 1877 by George and Emma Bryant as a small settlement on a bend in the Arkansas River near where it now stands. The Bryants developed a trade with nearby Springdale and built a large cotton plantation there. In 1906, they sold their holdings to John C. Fraley and moved to Springfield, Missouri. They died there in 1957 and are buried at Arlington Cemetery. Bryant grew slowly until World War II when it exploded into growth due to its strategic location on the main supply route from Memphis through Texas to Los Angeles and other parts of California. The city became one of the most important industrial centres in south-central Arkansas during that time period with numerous companies including Armoury Company (now General Dynamics), Phelps Dodge Company (now PEPHERSON HYDRAULIC COMPANY), Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (later Lockheed Martin Aeronautics) and others located here; many of these companies remain active today. In 1951, Bryant was designated as an official satellite town of Little Rock due to its rapid growth within that city; it still remains an important commercial and civic center for both cities today
Bryant was first settled in 1838 by James Bryant and his family. The community was named for General Andrew Jackson, who had been president when the town was established. In 1861, the Union Army attacked Bryant during the American Civil War, and many of the town's citizens were killed or wounded. The town continued to be active during Reconstruction, but declined after that time.
