The history of the Coast Guard in Blytheville, Arkansas begins with its establishment in 1907. At that time, the town of Blytheville was a small agricultural community located on the Tennessee River. The first Coast Guard station in Blytheville was built on the banks of the river and served as a launch point for local fishermen. In 1912, Captain W. T. Hebert organized a volunteer force to protect coastal towns and villages along theTennessee River from pirates and other criminals. Captain Hebert's unit became known as The Gals Bandits. In 1923, Captain J. L. Fenton assumed command of The Gals Bandits and began patrols along both sides of the riverine corridor connecting Memphis, Tennessee and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Captain Fenton's successors continued patrols until 1951 when they were disbanded due to budget cuts within the Coast Guard brass. However, The Gals Bandits remain an important part of our Coast Guard heritage in Blytheville today! In 2006, The Gals Bandit Museum was established in honor ofCaptain Fenton's legacy and continues to serve as a source of inspiration for local law enforcement officers across America."

Blytheville is an unincorporated community located in Johnson County, Arkansas. The population was 692 at the 2010 census. It is located on Arkansas Route 191, about 15 miles (24 km) east of Little Rock. The town was founded in 1875 by Welsh-born settlers from Brechin, Scotland. The name "Blytheville" was given to it by Jesse Rector Blyth, a business man and banker from Louisville, Kentucky. At its peak during the 1920s and 1930s, Blytheville had a population of 1,500 people. However, its growth slowed after World War II and the aftermath of the Great Depression. Today, Blytheville has a population of 150 people and is considered an agricultural community with few businesses other than small farmers.

The Coast Guard provides coastal defense and search and rescue services; conducts environmental monitoring; responds to federal and state inquiries; educates the public about maritime safety issues; and participates in international missions. He presented a “gift of war supplies” to the American Red Cross society in New York City. On February 3rd 1921 Commodore Eben Grant donated six hunting rifles valued at $6 each to the National Defense Reserve Association (NDRA) in Washington D.C.. Commodore Grant also served as president of NDRA from 1920-1921.. In 1922 Vice President Calvin Coolidge offered his personal library to the Library of Congress for its establishment as an independent branch within government.. From 1923-1974 Assistant Secretary Gerald R. Ford offered books from his personal collection for distribution through libraries across America as part of his Great Lakes Waterway Restoration Program (GLWRP). The first book ever given away through this program was "Plain Truth About Fishing" by Eliot Coleman which was distributed free through 16 metropolitan areas on Lake Michigan between July 1st 1978 and September 30th 1978.. In 1984 Commander David Lunkenheimer gifted two dozen surplus helicopters from Helicopter Command Headquarters at Fort Worth Army Air Field toforty three small towns along Texas’ Gulf coast for use with their local police departments during Hurricane landfall season.. Commander Lunkenheimer also sponsored four community golf tournaments throughout Texas over eight days beginning September 5th 1984 which raised money for hurricane relief fund availability .. In 1990 Commodore Rickover donated five lifejackets - three blue with one red stripe -Eachjacket goes outfitted with two sets of survival gear including cold weather gear appropriate for non tropical climates...From 1992-1996 Vice President Al Gore offered a framed sketch depicting US Governors visiting selected state capitals annually inscribed with the date Governor visited...This tradition continued until November 9th 1996 when Governor George W Bush offered a framed sketch depicting all 50 Governors visiting selected state capitals inscribed with their respective dates...On October 12th 1997 Champion Billie Jean King presented World No 1 player Bobby Jones With A Set Of Memorabilia And A Bottle Of whiskey At Miami Beach's Tournament Of Champions Racecourse After His Match Against Willie Tatum
