Two years later, the first grocery store opened in Bella Vista. By 1911, Bella Vista had two churches and six businesses. In 1916, the first post office was established in Bella Vista. In 1936, the town gained its name after a local tree that grew high on a hill in town.
Bella Vista is a small town in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The population was 7,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bella Vista is located about 15 miles (24 km) north-northwest of downtown Little Rock and about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Arkadelphia. The community was named after Alice Bogan, wife of Jeoffrey Bogan, one of the early settlers in the area. The first post office in Bella Vista was established on March 14, 1909. The community had a population of just over 100 people by 1920 when it became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and five trustees. By 1930, Bella Vista had a full-time school system and boasted an economy based mostly on agriculture with some light manufacturing output as well as service businesses such as Piggly Wiggly fast food restaurant and Walmart Supercenter which opened in 1984. In 2002, football great Vince Lombardi attended a game against Tulane University at Briggs Stadium (now AT&T Stadium), then known as Metrodome, wearing his #7 Redskins jersey to show support for the team during its players' strike against owner Dan Snyder's efforts to move the team from Washington D.C.–based FedEx Field to Arlington Heights, IL; he would later become general manager of the Redskins under head coach Joe Gibbs before his death in 2009 at age 70 from leukemia following two years chemotherapy treatment for that disease). In 2006-2007 Bella Vista played host to "Hollywood Casino" which seated up to 20,000 people inside one building on Boulevard Street adjacent to Bellefontaine Park across from Interstate 40/Route 8 synthetic oil rigs rotary drilling operations taking place offshore near Bellefontaine Bank) When I moved here I knew there were all these big things going on down south but I never really knew what they were or how it related to me or my life here... until now

Bella Vista was a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, for most of its history. It first came to prominence as the location where Confederate General Robert E. Lee's headquarters were located during the American Civil War. The town rapidly declined after the war and lost much of its population to moving away or dying from natural causes. In the late 1800s, Bella Vista was briefly mentioned in Huckleberry Finn as an unremarkable cotton plantation community northeast of Warsaw. But by World War II, Bella Vista had become one of the most important military training and supply towns in Arkansas. It served both Nazi Germany and United States forces during World War II. After the war, many residents moved back to Bella Vista but it slowly declined again until it ceased operations in 2000. Today, few people live there and only a few buildings remain from prior years. But while Bella Vista is now largely forgotten, its past can still be seen through its local history museum which features exhibits on local events such as the American Civil War and World War II; local architecture; and traditional southern cooking methods like fried chicken or catfish with okra fries.
Bella Vista was founded in 1868 by John A. White and his wife, Eliza. The town was named after the Bella Vista post Office which was established in 1851. The first store in Bella Vista was opened by Geo. W. Hagan on Crawford Street in 1870. The first school in Bella Vista was built in 1872 by Dr. George Fenton and Mrs. Jane Bacon, both of whom were natives of England. In 1876, a frame school building with a capacity of 30 students was built on State Street east of the railroad tracks and is still used today as the town's only public school building. In 1889, two families pooled their resources to build a larger frame school building on Baylor Road east of the tracks which became known as the "Bella Vista School" for Boys and Girls classes until it closed in 1969 when it became too expensive to maintain and reopened as a girls' high school under new management. A two-story white frame barn (now part of the old Masonic Lodge) located just northeast of town served as an early community center from 1890 until 1914 when it burned down due to arsonists who had damage done to it during heavy rains that year while attending a local fairground dancehall show scheduled at that location. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson addressed a crowd gathered near what is now called "Wilson Park" about 50 miles northwest of Bellevista on May 10th when he said: "My fellow Americans – this is your beautiful country – our fathers brought you here; let us make sure that we keep you safe, protect your rights, give you opportunities." Prior thereto he had been addressing heated crowds gathered at various points along Arkansas' western border about conditions there including numerous demonstrations against Prohibition efforts being made within Texas concurrent with those taking place elsewhere throughout Arkansas objectives included providing law enforcement assistance for individuals seeking to exercise such rights pursuant to Arkansas Constitution Article II section 3(a). After traveling some 350 miles through easternArkansas he arrived at this point making him one of only three Ulysses S Grant presidents ever honored with an official visit outside Kansas City Missouri while living full time in that state during his eight years as its governor since leaving office On October 12th 1916 James Mclntyre Bellamy accepted Mr Wilson's invitation to become Missourian national candidate for president appearing live before millions Nationwide via speaking tour starting November 1st 1916 ending December 20th 1916
