He set out to create an innovative coffee company that would be successful and distinct from his competitors. Peabody's innovative coffee beans were picked fresh on the farm and stored in large oak barrels. This process allowed for intense flavor development and created a unique cup of coffee that is still popular today. In 1912, Peabody introduced his first espresso machine to Queen Creek coffee drinkers. The espresso machines quickly became popular with locals and tourists alike, and led to the growth of the café industry in Queen Creek. Today, the café community remains strong thanks to Peabody's legacy of innovation and quality coffee products.

The name "Queen Creek" was given to the creek by Captain John Cooke when he discovered it in 1858 while exploring the area for silver. The creek's name may be derived from either Spanish or Apache words meaning "creek of the women." Queen Creek has a water supply coming out of Dry Gulch and Fillmore Lakes and has been used for irrigation since before Phoenix was founded. In 1907, local farmers organized what would become the Arizona Water Conservation Board to help manage and conserve water resources in central Pima County. Queen Creek is home to two churches: First Baptist Church (founded in 1905) and Mount Carmel Baptist Church (founded in 1909). Queen Creek also contains a post office which opened on July 8, 1907.

In 2007 Scottsdale annexed Queen Creek while retaining most of its municipal functions including zoning and planning; however, some services such as public transportation are still provided by Queens creek residents through their individual neighborhoods or neighborhood groups. Queen Creek has experienced many changes over time: from an agricultural community to a bedroom community for Phoenix during the post-World War II boom period; then again during the 1960s when much of Phoenix shifted from rural areas to Central Valley suburbs; and finally toward downtown Phoenix growth during the 1990s and 2000s as more high-density development replaced older farms and homesteads in central queen creek
