In 1925, Mario Batali set up his business in nearby Scottsdale and began importing Italian-made espresso machines from Rome. This led to a significant increase in quality and flavor in Prescott Valley coffees. By the late 1990s, Starbucks had started operations in town and quickly became dominate when it came to quality espresso beans and roasts. Prescott Valley is one of the oldest towns in Pinal County and has been inhabited by Native Americans for over three hundred years. The first European to visit Prescott Valley was Captain James Hance on July 6, 1839. Prescott Valley was named after General George Armstrong Custer who died in battle at the Battle of Little Bighorn on July 25, 1876. After his death, General Custer's widow decided to name her son after him and he became known as George Armstrong Custer High School District No. 1's mascot - "The Brave One". Prescott Valley is home to many attractions including the Prescott Museum of History and Art which is open daily from 9am to 5pm; the Gila River Indian School which offers classes for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students; and White Sands National Monument which offers visitors an overview of Uto-Aztecan culture and history as well as hiking trails that explore several different sections of the monument.

By 1830, coffee had spread throughout North America. In 1847, Jule Pemberton founded Peet’s Coffee House in New York City as the first commercial roastery of its kind. This led to the development of espresso machines which allowed American consumers to enjoy high-quality coffee while on their travels or during business meetings. In 1971, Starbucks announced they were opening their first store outside of California with roast quality that surpassed what many Americans could find at home due to production costs in that state at the time (this wasn't an exaggeration). Over time more stores followed suit with higher-quality beans sourced from roasters all over the world. Prescott Valley is located in central Arizona, about an hours drive from the larger cities of Phoenix and Tucson. The valley was first populated by the Pima and Tohono O’odham people in the late 1800s. Prescott Valley had a smallpox vaccine production plant built in 1907, which was destroyed in a fire. In 1932, Prescott Valley became part of the newly created Mohave County, Arizona. The population of Prescott Valley peaked at over 20,000 people in the early 1970s, but has since decreased to less than 10,000 residents today. The history of Prescott Valley can be traced back to 1859 when Captain John Hanks led his group of soldiers through what is now Prescott Valley on their way to campaign against Spanish forces east of Tucson. After reaching this location they named it after General George Armstrong Custer's unit who'd fought at Little Bighorn during the Mexican-American War two years earlier. Over time, many other groups called themselves "the Hanks party" or "the American Party." Many businesses were established here including a post office (1869), hotel (1911), grocery store (1914), and sawmill (1920). irrigation systems were also developed in this area for growing crops such as corn and beans. Mining operations began in earnest here around 1930 with numerous companies such as Phelps Dodge Operating Company Inc., Northern Mines Company, Globe Copper Mines Corporation and others situated throughout what is today known as Apache Canyon National Monument. By 1940 there were more than 100 mines open throughout Apache Canyon National Monument employing up to 4500 men! Unfortunately these days much of that infrastructure has been lost due to surface water recharge events associated with climate change patterns across central Arizona! Today visitor attractions abound within Apache Canyon National Monument including several interpretive trails leading into different parts of the park; cultural sites like Ancestral Puebloan ruins near Window Rock; beautiful valleys decorated with lush green pines; hike/bike trails meandering through natural amphitheaters; petting zoo;restaurants like Gila River Cafe & Grill serving up hearty Mexican cuisine complete with aztec art decorating all surfaces - making it one place you won't want to leave!
