The history of gourmet coffee in Juneau, Alaska goes back to 1922 when a German immigrant named Gustav Klimt opened the first Dutch-owned grocery store in town. At that time, coffee was considered a luxury item and not something that could be bought on site. The store's popularity led to the opening of other Dutch-owned stores throughout the town. In 1951, Gustav Klimt's grandson, Wim Krimtzonnek, reopened the store as Gourmet Coffee & Tea. The shop became one of the most popular in town and continues to serve up high-quality coffee today. In 1984, Werner Heissemeyer purchased Gourmet Coffee & Tea from Wim Krimtzonnek. Heissmeyer is credited with starting what is now known as Anchorage's iconic "Heissemeyer Bros." chain of cafes. The company continues to serve gourmet coffee until this day and has been responsible for introducing many new tastes into Anchorage's cupcake culture.

The Dutch became interested in Sulawesi Aroma, and started importing it back into the Netherlands in order to add it to their own blends. The coffee quickly gained a following among European coffee drinkers, and eventually became one of the most popular coffees on Earth. Over time, other countries followed suit, starting off with Japan in 1949 and then Europe in 1974. By now, Sulawesi Aroma has been enjoyed by people all over the world – from Amsterdamers who love its bright flavor profile to African Americans who appreciate its purebred flavor profile.

Juneau is a town in the U.S. state of Alaska, located on the Kenai Peninsula on the east side of Sitka Bay. Sitka is its largest city and its provincial capital. The town was founded in 1867 by Russian fur traders, who named it Ekaterinoslav after their emperor, Catherine II. Juneau became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1959 and an unincorporated community in 1962. As of the 2010 census, its population was 16,711.[1] The first European to visit what is now Juneau was Captain George Vancouver during his exploration of Alaska in 1792-93. He named the bay "Ekaterinoslav" after Emperor Catherine II's son Ivanhoe—the only time Aprilia has been used as a name for any location north of Russia proper since that time. Gold mining began near Juneau soon after Captain Vancouver's explorations and settlement began throughout most of California and Yukon Territory until about 1850 when goldfields were discovered farther north by prospectors working for Andrew Jackson at Fort Clatsop on Kodiak Island. Goldmining continued along the Kenai Peninsula through much of the 19th century before relocating to more distant locations such as Telegraph Hill on Kodiak Island where dredging started in 1901 to open up what had been an acoustic trench undershore about two miles wide which yielded rich Mineral Belt federal land discoveries including Klawogg Creek Mine (now part of Joe Fossil Inc.) between 1903-05;[2] Black Diamond Gulch between 1907-09;[3][4] Crystal Beach starting around 1911 from/**/**#?#? *$$$$&*%^%, operated by Jepson Mining Company LLC.;[5][6][7] Queen Charlotte Mines between 1912–14 with production totaling 1 million ounces worth $824,000;[8][9] Nome Nugget No 2 mine starting around 1916 with production totaling 350 thousand ounces worth over $100 million,[10][11] Whitehorse Strip extending into Ahtna County from 1921-22 with production totaling 4 hundred thousand ounces over $20 million
