Since the Anchorage Army National Guard was activated in 1951, they have deployments to various parts of the world. This deployment history includes both active duty and reserve components. TheGuard has mobilized for a variety of events, including the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. They have also participated in multiple holiday displays throughout their History Department’s archives. The Alaska National Guard Museum is open every day from 9am to 4pm from November 1- February 14th and 10am-4pm on December 17th through January 6th. Admission is free for all visitors! There are displays on military equipment and weapons used during these deployments as well as an oral history collection about the Army National Guard in Alaska. The museum offers a number of guided tours starting at 9am each day from November 1- February 14th or 10am each day from December 17th through January 6th (subject to change).
