Tuskegee, Alabama is the birthplace of the United States Navy. The city was founded in 1881 by Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter and Major General George Washington Montgomery as a base for the Southern District of Alabama. It served as a naval training ground and later became home to the Black Sea Squadron, which was one of only two squadron in existence at that time. In World War II, Tuskegee was again renamed Naval Air Station Beaufort. during World War I, it had been named Fort Fisher after General Andrew Johnson's main land campaign against Confederate forces in 1861-1865. In 1942, Naval Air Station Beaufort became Naval Base Alabama with headquarters at NAS Mobile. The base supported amphibious warfare operations in both world wars and also operated aircraft carriers such as USS Enterprise (CV-6) and USS Lexington (CV-3). The present day NAS Mobile is home to both the Fleet Marine Forces Pacific Command Headquarters Unit (FMFHQU) and the Aircraft Division Directorate for Marine Aircraft Group Twelve; which is responsible for providing MQ-4C Orion aerial maritime reconnaissance missions from NAS Mobile support facilities around Japan and South Korea. It also houses two cockpits for each of EA-8 Harpoon anti-ship missiles built at Grumman Aircraft Corporation's plant in Pensacola, Florida. These missiles are used by Marines when enemy ships come within range to engage them using their cannons or rocket launchers

The Tuskegee Airmen Association (TAA) was founded in 1942 by Tuskegee Airman pilots John F. Kennedy and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. The TAA is an all-volunteer organization that provides education and support to Tuskegee Airmen who have served in the United States Armed Forces. In 1917, the United States Congress passed a resolution designating December 7th as "Christmas Day" in honor of Admiral William T. The Naval Forces Europe and Mediterranean Command (NAVFEM) began delivering gifts to troops stationed in Europe in 1949. In 1967, NAVFEM created an overseas branch known as the Fleet Forces Europe and Mediterranean Unit (FFEU). Today, the Naval Forces Europe and Mediterranean Command (NAVFEM) provides operational support to NATO member nations and their militaries by sending cargo, personnel, or supplies door-to-door across borders. Gift history begins with Spain's Conquistadors in 1492 when they landed on American soil seeking wealth and slaves. A Spanish soldier named Francisco de Ovando brought gifts of animals, wine, breadfruit trees, jewelry and other items to Chief Massasoit of Narragansett Bay in 1624 at what is now Quincy Market in Boston Harbor. From this moment on., American traders began shipping goods back and forth between Plymouth Colony and Spain begging for passage to California with hopes of finding new land where they could establish new settlements. On November 17th, 1628 two ships called Don John arrived off Massachusetts beach after sailing from Cadiz laden with goods such as cloths, shoes, tools and vehicles for Native Americans living near the coast of North Carolina that year during King James' I's War against Spanish forces led by General Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar alias Hernando de Mendoza y Gómez de Laraxtafora (1588-1646). After disembarking passengers including many Jesuits who had earlier sailed from Spain accompanying Father Antonio Pigafetta on his ill-fated voyage to South America that same year under Captain Bartholomew Gosnold - one of only four sailors ever convicted of piracy - Don John began providing fresh seafood daily at anchor off Plymouth while also carrying flour for local bakeries ashore as part of his trade with English colonists alongthe Atlantic seaboard during King James' I's War against Spanish forces which commenced on April 15th,, 1600 Don John continued sailing out into Narragansett Bay each day bringing foodstuffs such as codfish Roe(Cleveland), mackerel(Weymouth), herrings(Red Bank)(Newport News) alive until he reached Easton Cove about three weeks later after being becalmed for five days due to high waves crashing onto shore On October 2nd,, 1629 two ships called Samuell came ashore from Lisbon laden with provisions including salt pork(Boston), mutton chops(Providence), beaver furs nuggets(Salem) among others In 1793 British Commander George Washington was given a shipment of Portuguese Madeira wine by Commodore Thomas Pownall during his cruise up Cape Horn
