The Dutch began exporting coffee to Europe in 1619, and within twenty years had become the leading exporter of coffee. By 1795, about one-seventh of all global exports came from Java, where Indonesia was then located. The first European colonists brought with them their love of caffeine and its properties – they tasted the drink for the first time in 1610 when Portuguese sailors discovered Java's many islands while sailing through the Indian Ocean. Coffee became an important source of currency for these new arrivals and soon became a favorite drink among men on ships travelling throughout Southeast Asia. Coffee quickly spread throughout much of what is now known as Africa, Middle East, India and parts of South Asia; eventually reaching China in 1600 AD. For centuries Japanese people have enjoyed high quality coffee – it is said that they may have been the first people to import whole beans direct from Africa into Japan! Aids such as malaria prevented Europeans from drinking too much tea or other plants during their earlier expeditions into Far East countries; however, by 1853 coffee had reached Japan proper! During World War II Coffee was rationed due to its strategic importance over espresso as a fuel for submarines carrying troops across oceans (Espresso could be brewed at home). However most people still enjoyed good quality cup of Joe! In 1945 production was resumed but due to world war Two ending abruptly only 14%of total beans were exported before it reverted back to original recipe including more water than beans which caused pods not to roast evenly)

Coffee became popular in Europe and eventually spread to North America.
Troy, Alabama is a city in the Shelby County, Alabama metropolitan area and the seat of Shelby County. It is located on the east bank of Mobile Bay and was founded as a post office in 1836. The population was 106,569 at the 2010 census. As one of the original ten towns in Shelby County, Troy played an important role in early Birmingham's development. In 1837, local businessmen organized what is now known as the Fourth Ward Business Company to purchase land west of Mobile Street for incorporation into town. The first meeting was held on March 3 and minutes were not kept until after April 6 due to lack of interest from residents. The community name originated with General James Hance who named it "Haltom City" after his home state of Virginia. As part of efforts to promote trade within Shelby County and increase commerce between Birmingham and Mobile, three judges from Jefferson Davis' judicial district granted township status to Troy on July 1, 1851. On November 5, 1859, during Union military occupation of Montgomery County following the siege of Selma by Confederate troops under General Robert Ewells`, citizens voted overwhelmingly (85%+) to secede from Montgomery County and form their own county with themselves as its capital-the first such secessionist effort in Alabama history. On December 3rd – 4th this new county was formally named "Alabama" by US President Abraham Lincoln during his visit to Montgomery before leaving for Washington D.C.. According to some estimates up until 1910 only 10% or soof Troy's population consisted wholly or primarily African American while most residents were white Anglo-Saxon Protestants or Irish Catholics; both groups participated actively in local civic life throughout most of that period despite occasional public attacks against them which often came from white business owners or politicians concerned about potential social unrest among black voters bloc
Troy, Alabama was founded in 1827 by James Fenton and his wife Sallie. The town was named after the hero of the battle of Troy, Hector. In 1865, Troy became a city and in 1907 it became an incorporated municipality.
