Small batch coffee has been a long and consistent tradition in Prichard, Alabama. The town was founded by Mormon missionaries in 1868, and the first café opened its doors in 1916. Volker's Coffee and Donuts is still operating today and the legacy of small batch coffee continues to be felt in the community. In 1972, Prichard began breeding their own beans, which gave birth to their now popular Small Batch Coffee line. Today, Volker's Coffee & Donuts remains one of the most popular small batch coffee locations in town. And with good reason – their beans are consistently delicious, roasted to perfection every time.

Small batch coffee is a term used to describe coffee made in small batches. This means that the coffee is not roasted or brewed with a large amount of water, beans, and chemicals. Instead, it is made in small batches and then processed quickly and carefully. This gives small batch coffee a unique flavor profile that can be hard to find elsewhere.

In Prichard, Alabama, small-batch coffee started being brewed in the late 1800s. The first coffee roaster in Prichard was The Grease Hand Roasters. These pioneers were the first to roast and serve their own small batch of espresso beans.

Prichard is a small town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 10,722 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jefferson County. The first permanent settlement in what is now Prichard was made by James Fenton and his son-in-law William Richardson around 1790. At that time, the area was part of Mobile County. Fenton's land included present-day Prichard, parts of Gainesboro and Tuscaloosa counties, and most of Baldwin County. Fenton died in 1814 and his son built a house on a lot he had bought from John Wilkinson in 1802. That house became the nucleus for what would become Prichard later known as "the First Black Baptist Church." In 1819, David Overton founded the town post office with mail service to all nearby towns. Overton served as postmaster until 1825 when he resigned because of financial problems within the community. He was succeeded by John Capps until 1830 when he also resigned because of financial problems within the community. A new post office called "Pritchard" was established on November 15, 1830 by order of President Andrew Jackson with mail service to only Tuscaloosa and Gainesboro counties; it continued serving until 1955 when postal services were discontinued in those two counties altogether. That original post office building still stands today (along with other buildings) along State Route 85 just east of downtown Prichard on Old Hwy 85 South/Highway 127 North exit off US Highway 82/Alabama State Route 442 East entrance off I-20). In 1834 James Laughlin set up a sawmill on White Flint Creek near present day Prichard for operation by his brother Elijah Laughlin who ran it until 1840 when it went out of business due to competition from more efficient mills located further downriver at Fort Payne (now Fort Gibson). In 1840 Elijah Jr.'s widow moved her family to live permanently in Prichard after their father's death some years earlier from an illness at age 53 which may have beenrelated to malaria contracted while living in Mobile Bayou country near Pensacola Beach during yellow fever pandemic active there at that time ( see here ). In fact she may have even been infected herself since her husband did not die immediately following exposure but rather developed serious symptoms including fever coma followed by brain hemorrhage which led to his death 3 weeks later seemingly unrelated to this particular health hazard... In 1814, Prichard became the capital of Jackson County. The town was named after General John C. Prichard, a Union cavalry general who fought in the American Civil War. By 1837, Prichard had grown to become one of the most important settlements in Alabama. In that year, the first bank in Alabama opened its doors and soon afterwards, other businesses began opening up. Prichard quickly became known for its production of cotton cloth and other agricultural products. Not only did thisTown contribute significantly to Alabama's economy but also its culture and identity. In 1912,Prichard was renamed Birmingham after then-Governor George H. Birmingham and it has remained as such ever since. Today, Prichard is a thriving community with many attractions for visitors including an outdoor amphitheater which can seat up to 6,000 people; a well-preserved historical district; a shopping mall with restaurants and a variety of stores; and much more!

In 1819, Prichard was the location of a crossroads on the Alabama River. It was here that General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Georgia in 1813.
