Prattville is a small town in central Alabama, United States. The population was 5,387 at the 2010 census. It is the largest community in Jones County and one of the smallest communities in Alabama. The first settler in Prattville was P.H. Pratt who came from Tennessee in 1819. The town was founded on December 15, 1834 by a group of settlers led by Colonel John Sibley and Drury Taylor. The name "Prattville" was given to the town by General Robert Elisha Pratt, who served as Governor of Alabama from 1829-1835. At its peak, Prattville had a population of 10,000 people and it remained an important stop on the Underground Railroad until around 1865 whenUnion troops burned down most of the buildings in the town. The post office was established at Prattville on March 15, 1840; and continued open until it closed on October 3, 1912. In 1913-14 there were two schools located within two blocks of each other – one for boys (in what is now known as Main Street) and one for girls (in what is now known as Elm Street). Both schools were attended by white students and black students attended separate facilities outside of town during that time period – something which still exists today with some minor adjustments due to historical inaccuracies about racial segregation at that time (most notably White Hall Elementary School). In 1907 General Electric built their large manufacturing plant near Prattville; this caused many jobs for locals throughout the area which has helped to keep Prattville alive through tough times including several fires over the years which destroyed much of downtown business district; however current signs indicate that even GE may have lost interest in this former mill complex over time making it difficult to maintain any semblance of downtown architecture or infrastructure today despite plans currently being put together to do just that courtesy of city hall observers/ Developers working closely with city planners/ Residents over recent years! What an exciting prospect!!

Prattville is a small town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville/Decatur, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Prattville can be traced back to 1835 when John Pratt purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land in what is now Marshall County from James Folsom. He named his tract "Pratt's Prairie" after himself and his family. The first post office in Prattville was established in 1836, and the first store was built in 1840. In 1847, two brothers, George and Isaac Huggins, donated land to the town for a public square and schoolhouse. The square became known as Main Street after they donated it. In 1875, the town had a population of just 10 people but it grew rapidly with the arrival of railroad construction through Marshall County. By 1900, Prattville had a population of over 200 people and six stores. On December 14th 1914, Judge W C Welsh officiated at the dedication of Baptist Church #1 on Main Street which served as the original church for Prattville Community Centre which currently stands vacant on that location today due to demolition by local developers pursuant to plans submitted by city officials seeking an increase in their property taxes On January 1st 1922 there were 100 residents living in Prattville including 22 teachers who taught high school classes out of three schools located within 2 miles (3 km) each while one teacher resided 3 miles (5 km) away from town limits teaching grades 7-12; this distance being then considered very close by many during that time period
Prattville was founded in 1819 by James Pratt and his wife Sarah. The town grew quickly and soon had a population of over 150 people. In 1828, the Pratt family moved to Decatur, Alabama where they continued to farm. In 1830, the Pratts moved again, this time to Mobile, Alabama. There they started a flour mill and later a cotton gin. They also built a Presbyterian church in 1830. ThePratts were active in local politics and served as Mayor of Mobile from 1838-1841. The Pratt family died in 1849 and their remains were buried at Mount Zion Cemetery in Mobile.
