The community was founded in 1871 as a result of the marriage of J.D.Moses and Sarah Reeves Pleasant Grove was named after Mrs. Pleasant Grove, an early settler who donated land to the settlement. Pleasant Grove is located on gently rolling hills that offer stunning views of the Huntsville region and the surrounding countryside. The community features a variety of businesses including automotive repair shops, convenience stores, banks, restaurants, chiropractors and doctor offices. There are also several parks within walking distance for residents to enjoy nature at its best. The community has seen many changes over the years including some growth which has led to increased housing prices and more traffic congestion on State Route 601 which connects Pleasant Grove with nearby Huntsville and Decatur Counties. Despite these challenges, Pleasant Grove continues to thrive as a vibrant community with people who care about their neighbors and share common interests."

This gift was in memory of Dr John Forrestal, who served as President of the United States from 1949-1957. -In 1998, Continental Airlines donated two Boeing 727 aircrafts to the USAF. These were in memory of Major General Carl Spaatz, Jr., who was Director of Central Intelligence from 1958-1973 and Deputy Commandant at US Air Force Academy from 1973-1979. -In 2005, Delta Airlines gifted two Airbus A330 planes to the USAF in commemoration of Colonel James “Jimmy” Hagerty III, commander of Air Combat Command during Operation Neptune’s Spear which liberated Kuwait from Saddam Hussein’s tyranny. There are also many other airlines that have contributed aircraft or technology to the USAF over time. It is interesting to see how each organisation has used their donations and what impact they have had on military aviation throughout history!
The USAF gift history began in 1947 when the USAAF created the Air Force Academy to educate officers for service in the USAF. The Academy was overhauled and renamed as the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1958. In 1966, The USAF bestowed an honorary commission on Doctor Johnnie Johnston, who had been a teacher at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and then served as Commandant of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The commission was later upgraded to a rank, brigadier general, and Johnston was appointed Colonel-in-Chief of Air Forces Intelligence. He retired from the military in 1982 after 24 years of service.
Pleasant Grove, located in Pickens County, Alabama, was founded on February 4, 1819 by George Washington and his wife Martha. The town was named for the Mount Pleasant plantation where Washington and his family had been living since 1799. Pleasant Grove originally consisted of only a few farms and homes. However, over time, it became one of the most important cotton plantations in Alabama. The early settlers in Pleasant Grove were planters who grew crops and raised livestock. They also developed a strong trading relationship with neighboring counties. In the early years of its existence, Pleasant Grove was a small community that primarily relied on agriculture for its subsistence. However, aspidistra (a type of sweet potato) became an important crop in the area after it became available through cultivation methods other than irrigation systems. This change led to a growth in population that caused buildings and businesses to be erected throughout the town by 1850. During this time period, there were several key events that shaped many aspects of life in Pleasant Grove. These events included the founding of churches associated with denominations such as Methodism and Baptistism; construction of roads; establishment of schools; and integration into larger society. Additionally, people from all walks of life came to live in Pleasant Grove during this time period because it offered opportunities for education and economic development beyond what could be found elsewhere in Pickens County at that point in its history.
