Pelham is a city in central Alabama and the seat of Pelham County. The population was 21,743 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in the county by population. Pelham was named after General James Wilkinson, who fought in the American Revolution and was one of its first casualties. The town was founded in 1817 as a post station on an Indian trail between Mobile and Pensacola. After becoming a town, Pelham renamed itself after General Wilkinson's regiment which fought during the War for Independence. In 1868, Pelham became one of two cities in Alabama to be incorporated into the newly formed State of Alabama based on its urban growth.
Pelham, Alabama is a small town located in Gilmer County, Alabama. The population was 3,331 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Pelham was first settled by African Americans in the early 1800s. In 1836, General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Alabama and captured the town of Mobile. When Jackson turned around to leave Mobile, he found that its black residents had burned their homes and businesses to prevent him from destroying them. As a result of this event, white people began to nickname Pelham "The Black Town". In 1881, the state of Alabama ceded all of Gilmer County (including Pelham) to Birmingham Township. This change happened because Birmingham wanted to build a railroad through Gilmer County so it could be linked with other areas in Tennessee and Kentucky. The town of Pelham continued to exist until 1959 when it was merged into the city of Birmingham. Today, Pelham is one of several small towns in Gilmer County that still retain some historical significance due to their location within walking distance of both downtown Birmingham and UAB University.

Pelham, Alabama is a small town located in Montgomery County, Alabama. The population was 10,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. Pelham is named after General James Wilkinson Pelham (1787-1865), an American general and Union Army officer who served during the American Civil War and Reconstruction period. Pelham was founded in 1856 by white farmers from Georgia and Tennessee who arrived in what is now Montgomery County looking for land to farm. They named their new village after General Wilkinson Pelham because he had been instrumental in helping to win independence for these United States possessions in the antebellum period. Over time, other pioneers also settled in PelHAM; some of them were Confederate generals Robert Ewell Lee and Thomas Fenton Jackson. In 1881, when Montgomery County was created, PelHAM became one of its townships. The years following World War II saw dramatic changes take place within the community as people came of age and began working on farms or through businesses that grew out of post-war reconstruction efforts such as carpenters, builders, mechanics, printers and truck drivers that helped rebuild Primitive Methodist churches across central Alabama after being devastated by fire or tornado damage. Many residents also took advantage of government sponsored programs like housing assistance or training as firefighters or police officers in order to improve their lives and contribute to local economic development prior to statehood in 1907 which brought about many changes for the area including a large influx of African Americans into rural areas throughout central Alabama during this time frame with similar opportunities available only to whites living elsewhere within states like Georgia or Mississippi while African Americans working on family farms were left behind without any help - until they got it later through court rulings during Jim Crow laws targeting black Americans specifically throughoutAlabama beginning around 1920s onward In recent decades there have been several major renovations/updates done to various aspects of life such as schools (including a brand new high school opened up in 2006), libraries (the first public library built east of Mobile Bayou since before statehood) casinos/resorts nearby (one opened up right next doorto Pulaski Middle School early last year!), outpatient mental health services (a service newly added to town hall just last year!) just off main street complete with crisis intervention capabilities should something go wrong anywhere else within town limits etc., but most importantly has been a fundamental change for all involved taking place over coming generations where parents are increasingly more likely than ever before not once but multiple times per week bringing children up thru Kindergarten thru 12th grade learning about good character traits & virtues so they can become productive citizens here today & tomorrow insteadOf growing up thinking "OK I've survived primary school let's move onto high school" etc... All this growth has come at a cost though with increased traffic congestion around town center due to numerous restaurants/bars+breweries+etc open late keeping things ticking overHEY! don't forget our amazing emergency responders too ;)
