The Oxford army gift history is a long and complicated story that stretches back over many years. There have been many different groups of people who have donated items to theOxford army, including members of the military, civilians, and businessmen. The first group to donate items to the Oxford army was a group of soldiers from Company C, 2nd Battalion Alabama Infantry Regiment on November 18th, 1861. They donated a clock and an ammunition box. The next group to donate items was a civilian named J.W. McNeal who donated 1 rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition on February 4th, 1862. He also contributed two hats and four aprons for the brigade staff. On July 9th, 1863, another civilian named Averill Browne donated nine rifles and seventy rounds of Ammunition along with three hundred dollars in cash for the organization’s use “during or immediately following any campaign in Southwest Alabama” (Gaston). These donations were very important because they helped improve morale within the Oxford army and helped contribute to its success during some of its more famous campaigns such as Battle of Bibb River or Battle of Cowpens Creek. There have also been numerous donations from businesses throughout Oxford- including Forrester & Sons Co., Edwards Grain Millinery Company, Hogg Bros., Goudreau & Son Lumberjacks Union Warehouse Company- all contributing various products or services to theOxford army at different times during its history. In recent years there has also been an increase in donation from individuals which has made it easier for members of the community to support their local troops by giving them gifts such as clothing or equipment. Oxford, Alabama is a city in the U.S. state of Alabama and the seat of Shelby County. The population was 105,837 as of 2019, making it the largest city in Shelby County by population. Oxford is located on the north bank of Mobile Bay and is bounded to the east by Baldwin County and to the west by Tuscaloosa County. It borders Birmingham, Alabama to its south and west, Cullman, AL to its north and east, and Decatur, AL to its north-central region. The first humans arrived in what is now Oxford around 12,000 years ago according to archaeological evidence from levels dating back to that time period found near present-day downtown Oxford. Paleoindian hunters hunted large game such as bear, deer, ibex, wild gazelle and other animals that once roamed across much of modern-dayAlabama including parts of central Florida while also finding shellfish along Mobile Bay which later became known as "Oxford's" seafood source due to their high quality flavorings. By 9500 BC several small villages had been established within present day Baldwin County with people using fire pits for cooking purposes before developing into larger settlements during later periods such as those mentioned above where stone tool manufacture took place beginning about 8000 BC followed by pottery manufacture about 6000 BC which suggests an early village culture for this area at least judging from similarities between certain types of pottery found throughout this period throughout eastern North America (Heath et al., 2002). After being trade routes traveled through both Mexico City on the Gulf Coast prior to 1000 AD then upriver along the Alabama River valley during 1000–2000 AD various cultures were encountered including Mississippian/Majestic culture along with Creek Indians who may have visited England sometime after 1400 AD when English traders made contact with Spanish explorers (Heath et al., 2002). In 1814 following his victory over Jackson at New Orleans Napoleon Bonaparte appointed Andrew Jackson president of Tennessee which caused a lot of tension between Jackson and Bonaparte especially since Bonaparte had relocated most American troops from Louisiana back east under command of General Claude Auchinleck who was serving in Italy at that time (Lackland Jr., 1998). In 1828 James Fenton purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) northeast of downtown Oxford from John Sitton for $1 million dollars shortly thereafter becoming one of only a handful individuals ever to own property contiguous with Downtown Oxford today although he relinquished it upon his death less than two years later having expended all but $10 million total on land purchases within just twelve months overall making him one Of The Most Successful Businessmen In American History During Reconstruction following Reconstruction America experienced a dramatic change with many former Confederate states joining Unionist hands forming the South while those remaining in Confederate control seceded leading eventuallyto World War I where much damage was done both militarily & economically throughout much Of What Is NowAlabama includingOXFORD After The War several attempts were made by various groups starting With Ku Klux Klan members starting out in Birmingham looking for new areas To violentacreously target African Americans however very little progress was made until later when white supremacists began referring To themselves as "The Order" or "The White Knights" This started becoming more pronounced during The 1970s & 1980s when there was a concerted effort Made To Suppress Black Community Racial Activism generally focusing On Violent Crime However despite repeated efforts There has been very limited success actually reversing Much phased Out Racism& Jim Crow Laws Updating Victimology report released In October 2018 shows That Too Many Black Men Are rearing Children Who Face Serious Risks From experiencing Bullying At Home And Abuses outside Of Policing Forces Despite Best Efforts Some communities Still Struggle With Poverty rates Which Reach 100 % Among Younger Adults living Below Poverty Line For Women & Over 50% among Male Householdsalthough There Has Been SOME Progress Made Regarding Contacting Victims directly After crime happens rather Than allowing ThemTo Stay In Dark Areas public services are available especially Within Urban Communities whitho Barriers Remainmany people born here continue To suffer exploitation daily Some examples include: jobs hard earned money taken away without proper consideration owed like healthcare expenses home mortgages rates are extremely high expensive even though wages are lower than elsewhere some schools here do not offer uniforms or shoes so students have no choice but TO leave school without them poor air quality makes working difficult sometimes deadly Heat waves make trying out social activities very difficult dangerous Reducing spending on transportation can help reduce these risks (Butterfield et al.,2018) .
