McClntyre was an influential merchant in downtown Mountain Brook with a wide range of goods including Firearms, Ammunition and Sporting Goods! He also traded horses for goods during that time period. Some of McClntyre's most famous customers include Andrew Jackson (the president) and Jno Ewing (founder/CEO of FedEx). In 1835, A & H Guns & Ammo started business in downtown Mountain Brook! They were quickly followed by The Rifle & Pistol Emporium from 1840-1845. These stores did brisk business selling both handguns and rifles! Many residents from nearby rural areas would bring their firearms shopping into town for supplies or repairs between sessions at the courthouse square! It’s safe to say that gun mania ruled those days!! When Abraham Lincoln became president after Ulysses S Grant’s death in 1865, things changed rapidly within thegun industry!!! pistol sales soared as soldiers began buying new rifles instead of just using officals (i.e., surplus military weapons). Consequently, demand for weaponry skyrocketed across America!!! Several small businesses sprang up around Chicago due to this demand: Colt’s Manufacturing Co., Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Savage Arms Corp….. etc…. These companies manufactured various typesof firearms including revolvers (including pocket pistols), semi-automatic pistols (such as Smith & Wesson Model 6 cylinders)and machineguns (such as Browning “Bolt Action” rifles)! Needless to say pandemonium ensued when President Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order 12381 which limited production at these companies!!! This order effectively closed down manufacturing facilities throughout America!!!! NRA members (& others interested in Second Amendment rights) lobbied hard against this draconian action – but it wasn't going away anytime soon!!!

Mountain Brook is a census-designated place located in Mobile County, Alabama. The population was 5,838 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Birmingham–Tuscaloosa metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1892 by John and Anna Mountainbrook as a farmstead on the east side of Mobile Bay. The name "Mountain Brook" was chosen because it reminded people of the mountain range that stretched from Tennessee to Alabama. In addition to farming, John Mountainbrook also operated a hotel in Mountain Brook for many years. In 1925, the Mountbatten family donated land to establish a national park at Mountain Brook. The park has since included portions of Mobile and Baldwin counties and includes over , including more than half of all acres (1,635 hectares) within the city limits of Tuscaloosa. Today, Mountain Brook remains an important community with its own schools and businesses. Residents are engaged in several hundred volunteer projects throughout Montgomery County each year, contributing more than $10 million to local economies through donations and services such as homeland security patrols and street cleaning initiatives.
