The navy has been a part of the community in Moody since at least 1848. The first sailor to come ashore in what is now Moody was John A. Smith, who landed on December 3, 1848. The first ship to dock at Moody was the brig Confederate States from Richmond, Virginia. The navy played an important role during the Civil War and opened up trade with Confederate ships when it wasn't possible for goods to be brought in by land. In 1865, Commodore James W. Foulke ordered the construction of USS Alabama at Mobile Bay as a flagship for Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter's expedition against Mobile Bay pirates. This event helped solidify the town's relationship with navy sailors and their families. In 1902, Commodore Alfred Peebles announced that navy warships would no longer sail into Mobile Harbor but would instead use Spanish Channel ports instead because of fears that Spanish submarines might attack American vessels passage through those waters. This decision signaled a change in naval fortunes as Spain became one of America's main enemies during World War I. Since WWII, the navy has again been an important part of local life in Moody with events like Fleet Week and Navy Day being celebrated annually by residents and sailors alike. Today, there are more than 350 active duty sailors assigned to 26 ships stationed throughout Alabama including three Alaskan fishing vessels and two Norfolk-class destroyers available for tours or deployments anywhere in America or around the world if needed!

The Moody Naval Shipyard was established in 1881 as the Alabama Navy Yard. The yard was renamed the Moody Naval Shipyard in 1917, in honor of Rear Admiral John Moody, who served as Commander-in-Chief, Atlantic Fleet from 1915 to 1917. In 1929, the name was changed again to the Moody Naval Shipyards Incorporated. The shipyards were privatized and sold to Trans World Airways in 1984. In 1987, the yards were Purchased by Lockheed Martin Missile Systems Division and are now part of LockheedMartin's Missiles and Fire Control division.
Moody, Alabama is a small town located in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is the most populous community in Tuscaloosa County and one of the most populous municipalities in Alabama. Moody is home to two high schools and four elementary schools as well as two postsecondary institutions: Moody High School and Tuskegee Airmen Technical Institute. The town also has a public library, an observation deck on Mountain Top Hill, and a recreation center. Moody was founded in 1875 by James Matson Moody, who named it for his uncle—the Reverend George Moody of Greenville, Mississippi—who had settled there some years earlier. At first glance it may seem surprising that such an isolated community as Moody could have so many residents; however, because it depended largely on agriculture for its income, trade deficits were not too common during its early years. In fact, until about 1880 all of Tuscaloosa County was thinly populated with only a few thousand people living scattered throughout various settlements scattered around the area that would later become downtown Montgomerytown (now known as Birmingham). Today's downtown core of downtown Moody contains more than seventy businesses including several banks and several strip malls complete with restaurants and nightlife options. Many people believe that the growth of downtown cores like this one has been responsible for much of the recent revitalization of older neighborhoods across metropolitan Birmingham such as Stone Mountain Park and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport which are now seeing significant population growth thanks to new housing developments being built nearby. One reason why downtown Moody has seen such rapid growth is due to its proximity to major transportation hubs like I-5 (which forms much of the backbone of today's city) and US-130 (which provides access to both Caddo Lakefront Park (a popular tourist destination) and numerous other attractions). Additionally, Downtown'S pedestrian mall attracted some top international retailers like Zara and H&M before they opened their own stores within minutes' walk from any point inside or outside Ofglen Shopping Center - making Downtown Moody easily accessible for anyone regardless of economic status or location!

Moody is a city in the U.S. state of Alabama, located on the banks of the Mobile River. The population was 24,515 at the 2010 census. It is part of Mobile County and is the county seat of Mobile. Moody was founded in 1824 by James Moody and his family as a trading post on what is now known as Moody's Ferry Road between present-day Mobile and Baldwin counties. In 1829, Moody became the first incorporated municipality in Alabama when he voted to become a town from land grant from General Andrew Jackson. Moody had a population of 16 residents when it was platted in 1830 by James Moody and his brother John Moody Sr.. The first store opened in 1830, operated by Jno. Blythe & Son, which resold goods like shoes, hats, pork chops, applesauce and other items to local farmers and traders who traveled upriver for trade goods. In 1835, James Moody donated land that would serve as courthouse square today; this contributed to its growth during its early years as an agricultural center with small businesses selling produce such as eggs or milk to travelers along US Highway 431/US Route 231 north of downtownMobile (now I-10). In 1840, Isaac Pryor built the first cotton gin west of Chattanooga on current day White Street near where University Boulevard meets US Highway 431/US Route 231 today; this helped increase production at nearby plantations downstream from Mobile Bay while also providing jobs for locals on both sides of the river. By 1850, there were over 100 businesses operating in downtown Mobile including stores such as Fidelity & Co., Griggs Bros., Browning & Weir (today's Denny's), Waddell Drugs (later H&M), McCoy Piano Company (owned by Hank Mobley), Harper’s Ferry Coal Company (now home Depot) and many more - making it one of America’s largest cities before railroads came along to take over much of American commerce some 40 years later! The opening in 1881 of what is now Amtrak’s “Eaton Line” passenger train service helped revive downtown Businesses like McCoy Piano Company which rebranded itself “The Art House” after becoming one of only a handful places outside New York City allowed to sell tickets directly to passengers! Today still active within Downtown business district are several popular restaurants including Zella Catering & Cocktails (! – sorry!), McCoy Pizza Place #2 (& 3) – home delivery only due to security concerns about youth gangs using their premises for criminal activities (! – sorry again!), A Cappuccino (#19 on State Capitol Building map!) - open 7 days per week 365 days per year! This vibrant old core area has undergone numerous renovations throughout recent years but never losing its character despite all changes…..Aurora Photography Center acrossfrom Zella Catering (& Cocktails!), Hale Hardware just easton White St., Goodwill Industries Clothing Store (@ 20 E Broadway recently moved back into former Masonic Temple building next door @ 10 E Broadwalk ), original Bankers Trust building (@ 5 N Market St ), 2nd floor meeting room used by City Commissioners since 1907 - now occupied by new City Hall!!
