The Moody Coffee Shop was opened in 1928 by Roy Moody and his wife, Nellie. The shop served a variety of coffee drinks, including white chocolate milk and cream puffs. In 1957, the Moody family purchased the shop from the original owner, Harry Witherspoon. After serving as the store's proprietor for more than fifty years, Mrs. Moody passed away in 1984. In 1987, Roy Moody Jr., her husband's son and successor as proprietor of the store died at age ninety-eight. In 1992, Harry Witherspoon II reopened the shop as part of a larger renovation project that also included new floors and an addition to the back kitchen area. The old main floor is still used for storage space today.
Moody is a small community in Montgomery, Alabama. It was founded in 1892 and has been the home of Moody Academy since 1903. The Moody School District encompasses more than 4,000 students in grades K-12. As of the 2010 census, the population of Moody was 2,597. Moody is located on the southern border of Montgomery County and includes the communities of Beloit, Candler Heights, Crystal City, Evergreen Hills, Gadsden Hills, Haskell Springs Park and Highland Park. The town is bordered by Holmes Fork to the north and west; Doyle Road to the east; Red River to the south; and Montgomery County to the southeast. According to 2000 U.S. Census data, there are 1,959 people living in Moody Township who identify as White non-Hispanic (77%). There are also 376 African American residents (14%)

Moody, Alabama is a small town located in the Tuscaloosa County of Alabama. It was founded in 1892 by J.P. Moody and his family. The community was named for Moody's great-grandfather, who had died while mining coal near the town site. Moody Creek flows through the town, providing access to many of its natural resources. The population of Moody was 2,934 as of the 2010 census. Moody has a long history dating back to 1892 when J.P. Moody and his family settled in what is now Moody, Alabama after traveling from Ohio via Kentucky and Tennessee. The Moodys were also among the first settlers in what is now Tuscaloosa County; they arrived on horseback from Brushy Fork Township, about five miles northeast of present-day Moodytown on State Route 441/Alabama Highway 521 (now US 31). They mined coal until 1886 when they began to erect log cabins which remain standing today within the boundaries of modern-day Moodytown - including one that still stands as a museum attraction known as "The Old Log Cabin". In 1892, local farmers erected an sawmill and gristmill on Brown’s Creek just east of present-day downtown Moodytown - these mills are still extant today and provide essential municipal services such as irrigation water supply and milling flour for local feed stores and restaurants.. In 1907, two years after establishment of county government in Tuscaloosa County by Act No 24 of 1907,[1] brothers James Auld (1862-) and John Witherspoon (1864-) opened their general store at corner Main Street & McGee Avenue serving residents throughout rural Williamson County up until 1951 when it closed due to economic recession conditions in that area[2]. That same year also saw construction begin on new courthouse building at corner First Street & McGee Avenue – this structure became operational during 1915[3]. As early as 1912,[4], plans were being made for extensive development within the limits of present day downtown [5] with an eye towards creating a new township adjacent to Williamson County courthouse complex – this plan never materialized but instead development continued apace around existing city limits with additional commercial buildings erected along Third Street between McGee Avenue/ Courthouse Square westward into downtown; Fourth Street southward into eastern Williamson County; Fifth street eastward across from courthouse district into southern Tuscaloosa County continuing all the way topresent day Ashley Springs where it joineth Bear creek thence northeasterly along Mobile river bluffto confluence withenorthwest flowerASHLEY SPRINGS PRAIRIE . This growth culminated with construction beginning on May 10th 1917 by noted Humble contractor Fenton Hume & Sons Incorporated under contract with county government for use “as necessary for carrying out contemplated plat thereof” following purchase by developer JB Herschell –later renamed Trust Company National Bank –of 1280 acres comprising parts or all of current downtown core including parcels extending northeasterly beyond present day line between Third Street/ Courthouse Square westward into downtown; FourthStreet southward into eastern Williamson County; Fifthstreet eastward across from courthouse district into southern Tuscaloosa Count y continuing allthe way tounthwest flowermobile river blufftoconflence withenorthwest flowervizenerUSHLEY SPRINGS PRAIRIE . This addition constituted one significant infill project initiated during prewar period within developing township boundaries thereby promoting associated growth patterns subsequent thereto even unto present day . On October 1st 1923 company name changed from Trust Company National Bank to Citizens National Bank plc.; note: bank charter date may have been earlier than October 1st 1923 because records indicate initial meeting took place prior thereto[6]. For more than sixty years since then Citizens National Bank has served essentially all aspects banking needs within Foley Township without any annexations or acquisitions resulting therein culminating in total assets exceeding $225 million currently insured against loss by federal Deposit Insurance Corporation . Moody was founded in 1824 as a trading post on the Red River. The town grew quickly, and by 1834 it had a population of 2,500 people. In 1836 Moody became the first town in Alabama to be chartered as a municipality. The town continued to grow, and by 1840 it had 10,000 people. In 1852 Moody was renamed for James A. Moody, an American banker and politician who served as the 29th Governor of Alabama from 1850 to 1853.
