Millbrook is a small town in Mountain Brook County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located on U.S. Route 62 east ofFairfax and west of Birmingham. The first settler in Millbrook was Elijah Woodruff who arrived in 1817. He named the community "Millbrook" after his mill which he built on a stream near present-day Millbrook Elementary School. A post office called "Millbrook" was established in 1825, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. The first school in Millbrook was built on what is now the elementary school campus; it opened in 1826. The first principal of Millbrook High School was Rufus Sallis with its opening date being October 5, 1928.
