Millbrook is a small town in the state of Alabama, United States. The population was 1,746 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located in Jefferson County and is part of the Birmingham Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a farming community on an area of marshy ground between Roanoke River and Mill Brook. A post office was established here in 1892, and by 1910 there were only twenty-four residents living in what would become Millbrook. In 1916, the mill was built, and soon became one of the most important commercial enterprises in the town. It continued to be a major employer until it closed its doors in 1984. Today, much of what once characterized Millbrook has been replaced by new housing developments or businesses that have sprung up around it since then; however, some aspects of its history remain significant such as its reputation for being home to one of the best chocolate products in America.

Millbrook, Alabama is a small town located in central Alabama. The population was 1,071 at the 2010 census. Millbrook has a long and varied history dating back to the 1800s. The first mill in Millbrook was built by James Smeaton in 1825. In 1903, the mill was destroyed by fire and never rebuilt. In 1907, Millbrook became a city and it has since been renamed for General George Custer following his death in 1887. Millbrook’s most significant event during its early years was the opening of its first African American school, Tuskegee Airmen School #1 (later Booker T Washington High School), in 1928. In 1961, Mill Brook became an unincorporated community again when it merged with nearby Vestavia Hills to form Village of Vestavia Hills.
