Hueytown is a small city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States. The population was 6,045 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. Hueytown is named for General James H. Huey and his family who lived there for many years in the early 1800s. The city was founded in 1875 by men from Mobile and other parts of Alabama to serve as a depot on the new Mobile River Railroad which crossed over from Tennessee toAlabama. In 1887, James H. Huey donated land to build a townsite on what is now east side of US-30 just north of where Interstate 95 meets US-29/Alabama State Route 441 (SR-441). Hueytown grew rapidly due to its location and commerce as well as its status as an agricultural center due to its nsugar crops and cotton plantations; two cotton mills were built there during prohibition days between 1919 and 1933. The first post office opened in 1928, and the first store opened in 1930 In recent years, Hueytown has become a vibrant center for arts and culture with several theaters, galleries, art shows, music events and more drawing people from all over metro Birmingham into downtown every day of the week during prime shopping hours – including Mardi Gras weekend! As a result, many people started refusing to drink coffee because it appeared too dangerous to do so safely.

Hueytown was founded in 1821 by Captain John Huey and his wife, Sally. The town was named for General George C. Marshall, who had Brigade Headquarters at Hueytown from 1861 to 1865. In the early days of Hueytown's history, it consisted of only a few homes and businesses. In 1875, the first post office opened in Hueytown. By 1880, there were over 100 businesses in Hueytown. In 1909, the first electric light system in Alabama was installed in Hueytown. The following year saw the opening of the first bank in Alabama.In 1916, Mayor Burton Hargrave dedicated an east-west railroad line through Hueytown which made it possible for people to shopping and working nearby without having to go far.The population of Hueytown grew rapidly during World War II due to military production at nearby Mobile Army Hospital and other plants located in Mobile County. The post office closed in 1945 but goods continued to be sent into and out of town until 1949 when Interstate 10 replaced Highway 19 as the main highway
