Tactical Coffee is a coffee company located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The company was founded in 1984 by Dave “Taco” Day and his wife Linda. Taco started the company to provide quality coffee at an affordable price for military personnel stationed in the area. Today, Tactical Coffee continues to serve up delicious coffee and provide support for deployed military members and their families. The first cup of Tactical Coffee was brewed by Dave “Taco” Day himself on a small scale in his home. By 1987, the taco shop had opened its doors to the public and began serving up amazing cups of coffee that have become known throughout Gulf Shores and surrounding areas. Today, Tactical Coffee enjoys a loyal following of customers who appreciate the great taste of their coffee and support our Troops during their deployments worldwide! Gulf Shores is a small city in Alabama, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It lies on the Gulf of Mexico about 30 minutes east of Mobile and 25 minutes west of Destin. The town was founded in 1881 by brothers John and William Capps who named it after their father, Gulf Shores,Alabama. The first post office was established in 1886 and the name changed to Gulf Shores in 1897. In 1907, the town became a city when it annexed the neighboring town of Mobile. In 1966, it merged with nearby Daphne to form a city-county government which continues today as Gulf Shores City Councilman District 2A. The history of Gulf Shores goes back to 1881 when two brothers from Mobile founded what would become known as Gulf Shores. They named their new community after their father's home county - Gulf County, Alabama - but they soon realized they needed more space so they moved inland and built a new community on an area that is now part of downtown gulfshore City Limits! Thisolidated many families who had settled there over time into one place and made it possible for them to get involved in local politics and business ventures right where they lived! In 1907, the citizens of Gulf Shores decided that enough was enough; they wanted their own Post Office! And so, on October 15th of that year (only six months after incorporation),they voted to open up Post Offices all over the community because "the people wanted it."Fast forward 117 years...and today we still have our very own Mayor/Councilwoman elected every four years through direct democracy!!! As you can see from this timeline, things haven't changed too much since then - ourcommunity has always been willing & able to get behind its initiatives & goals!

The first store in Gulf Shores opened in 1893. In 1916, a canal was built through Gulf Shores to connect the Mobile River with Mobile Bay. This helped make Gulf Shores an important shipping point for materials shipped downriver from Chattanooga and other cites in Tennessee and Kentucky. The development of these transportation connections played a significant role in its growth as a community. By 1960, when it became part of Birmingham, Gulf Shores had reached its peak as a developed town with many businesses and residences. However, over time it has slowly suffered due to declining manufacturing activity and low population growth rates within its boundaries. Today, there are only a few notable buildings remaining from earlier times that retain some significance to the community such as the old Masonic Lodge No. 2 which still stands today as one of few remaining examples of brick architecture in southern Alabama, or the old post office building that now serves as an arts center and museum).
