The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Fairfield, Alabama has been providing service to the community since 1916. The Auxiliary is a volunteer group of citizens who help keep our coastline safe by providing security and protection. The Coast Guard Auxiliary was organized on December 5, 1916 when two groups of citizens banded together to create a society to provide assistance to the local Coast Guard. At that time, there were no coast guard stations in Fairfield County. Since its inception, the Auxiliary has grown into one of the most powerful entities within the community. They are responsible for many important tasks within the community such as providing security at local events andproviding support for OSBI (Operation Support bins Hill) which helps clean up illegal drugs and alcohol off our coastline. In 2006, the Auxiliary celebrated their centennial with a variety of celebrations including an event honoring individual members and organizations who have contributed over the years. In celebration of this milestone, they hosted a “Grand Banquet” which featured several hundred guests from throughout Alabama including representatives from law enforcement agencies and government officials as well as commercial businesses. Today, there are more than 2200 active volunteers who work together every day to provide coastal safety and security for all those living along our shorelines!

Fairfield is a town in Colbert County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mobile–Tensaw– Fairfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit the area were the French in 1763 and the British in 1765. In 1807, Fairfield incorporated as a township. In 1907, it became a city. The current name was given to the town by its founder and namesake, General James Ewing Fairfield (1811-1887), who named it after his ancestral home in Hampshire, England. A post office called "Fairsville" was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907.Fairfield has been one ofMobile's most vibrant communities for over 100 years In 1906-1907 there were two hurricanes that hit Mobile Bay; Florence on September 12th 1906 and Wilma on October 6th 1907 both caused extensive damage within Fairfield including loss of life and homes valued at over $100 000 both days). Both timesowntown Mobile had to be evacuated due to fear of flooding from these intense storms which caused significant street closures throughout much of downtown Mobile In recent years many new businesses have opened up such as restaurants/cafes/bars etc., which have drawn people into downtown Mobile from all around metro Birmingham especially since Montgomery's renaissance as an center for learning

In Fairfield, Alabama, the history of the community can be traced back to 1821. At that time, a small farming village was founded by farmers from Virginia and Georgia. The first settler in what is now Fairfield was Colonel George Prentice. In 1826, Captain John Fenton moved his family to Fairfield from Mobile County. By 1830, the population of Fairfield had grown to around 50 residents. The early settlers in Fairfield were Methodists who worshipped at First Baptist Church. The first school inFairfield was opened in 1827 by Mrs. Mary Hargrave as a one-room building on the corner of Main and Second Streets. In 1840, a new school house was built on Third Street and named after Miss Lucy Mclntyre (1813-1890). Mrs. Hargrave donated the land for the school house and also provided funding for it. The town continued to grow throughout the 19th century as more people came to live there than could be accommodated within their homes or businesses. One of the earliest businesses established in Fairfield was Robert's General Store which operated from 1829-1855 along Main Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. In 1870, a post office called "Fairfields" became operational and remained in operation until 1957 when it was renamed "Huntsville". In 1907, a hospital called Huntsville Hospital opened its doors in Fairfield providing medical care for locals and visitors alike during times of crisis or illness. Throughout its long history, Huntsville Hospital has been an important part of Fairfield’s community culture both literally and figuratively; it has been home to many notable local dignitaries as well as numerous patients suffering from various illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes etc..
Fairfield was founded by James Fairfield in 1827. It became a county seat in 1836. The community is located near the Choctawhatchee River.
