The Enterprise Air Force Base is home to the United States Air Force's 1st Bombardment Wing, which was activated on December 17, 1941. The wing flew its first mission over Japan on April 20, 1942. In World War II, the wing operated more than 350 aircraft including bombers and fighters. On September 15, 1945, the wing terminated its operations and became an inactive unit until it was reactivated in November 1990 as a flying branch of the National Guard Bureau. The 1st Bombardment Wing currently operates from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. On October 12, 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower presented Commander in Chief John F Kennedy with a gift of two Lockheed P-2L Poseidon (C-121A) reconnaissance planes that were being sent to South Korea as part ofOperation Radiance I. These planes were used for photographic reconnaissance and mapping missions over North Korea during the Korean War. On May 25, 1961 President John F Kennedy presented Commanding General George H Wallace with a gift of four McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawks for use in Southeast Asia as part of Operation Vigilant Guardian I. These jets served as fighter bombers and helped protect American forces during the Vietnam War while also conducting other airstrikes against Viet Cong targets inside South Vietnam or across Laos and Cambodia

The Enterprise Air Force detachment is responsible for the deployment of gifts to military and civilian personnel stationed in Alabama. The detachment has a history dating back to World War II when the air force provided gift baskets to troops deployed in Europe. Enterprise, Alabama is a town in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville–Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named after J.B. Enterprise and his family which came to Tuscaloosa County in 1836 from Monroe County, Georgia. The first school in Enterprise was built in 1838 by Mr. John Aiken and taught by Mrs. Aiken's daughter Sarah Ann Stephenson; it seat was on an old log building that still stands today on Old Academy Road about three miles south of the present town site (the weatherbeaten structure has been completely destroyed). In 1852, Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Cooke bought the land east ofpresent-day Enterprise for $2 per acre (about $ ), laid out a village square with brick buildings and named it Cookeville after their benefactor and namesake; commerce soon followed suit with stores, hotels, grist mills and churches opening up around this fledgling community center In 1886, when Tuscaloosa County became incorporated as a municipality, Enterprise became its first ward; but because of its rural location several businesses refused to incorporation until they were paid off – including one store which refused to have any meter readings done because it said “it would only increase business for our larger neighbor” Civic meetings were held at various locations within the township up until 1907 when all proceedings were moved to the new Goose Creek Community House which served as both civic hall and post office until 1953 In 1913 there was an effort led by Representative James Gadsden to rename Enterprise after General George Custer during World War I due to national publicity generated by Custer's death at Little Big Horn However this proposal failed to gain traction In 1925 there was another attempt made to name Enterprise after General Custer but again this proposal fell through due largely to lack of support In 1951 local citizens organized a drive called “Name Our Town” with the goal of getting recognition from county government for their efforts In response thereto a resolution authorizing creation of an enterprise districtwas passed unanimously by both the Township Councils on February 3rd 1952 .On February 5th same year enterprises governing body met in Cookesville under charter number ED-521 consisting of four elected officials - Mayor Bob Kline (president), Treasurer/ Auditor Melvin Witherspoon (vice president), Clerk Betty Payne (secretary) - with responsibility for all aspects except public health & safety Thereafter every month or so delegates from enterprise districts meeting in Huntsville would bring their concerns directly to management Thereafter such meetings continued until November 15th 2002 when all decisions were finally taken thru referendum via email ballot asking residents if they wanted continuation or termination Of course most people voted no continuing operations into 2003 although some people did manage to get hold of emails late enough notice so they could cast ballots

Enterprise is a town in Bibb County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Huntsville/Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area. Enterprise was founded in 1875 by two brothers named John and Reuben Hargrave as a small settlement on the edge of what is now known as Huntsville. In 1895, Enterprise became incorporated as a city and through its incorporation grew from a population of around 100 to more than 2,000 by 1910. The city's growth was due to its status as an important transportation hub for the region thanks to its location on Mobile Bayou and its access to major highways such as US-411 and US-122. The city also benefited from being home to several major companies such as Alcoa (now JCPenney) and Huntsville Gas & Electric Company. These industries left their mark on Enterprise with many buildings still standing today including the Alcoa Building which served as headquarters until 1953; the RCA Television Building which opened in 1951; and the First National Bank building which opened in 1909. In recent years, Enterprise has seen some suburban development but it retains much of its historic core including many of the original buildings from when it first thrived as a city.
In 1851, Enterprise was founded as the capital of what is now Alabama. The town was named for a Creek Indian chief and his family, who had constructed a trading post in the area. In 1864, Enterprise became the seat of government for all of Alabama when Montgomery was founded.
