Center Point is a town in Pike County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Center Point is located on the eastern edge of Pike County and is bordered by the towns of Coffeeville to the north and east, Florence to the south, and Sheffield to the west. It lies within Colbert County. The first settler in Center Point was John Pritchard who arrived in 1819. A post office was established here in 1836, and by 1840 had a population of twenty-one residents. In 1851, two men named Hargrave set up a company that developed a cotton gin near present-day Centre Point. They were followed by other settlers who began cultivating land around what is now CentrePoint Golf Course. In 1865, George Waddell founded Centrepoint Academy which became one of the largest high school systems in Alabama before it merged with Hoover State College in 1984. Today's Centrepoint Shopping Center was built in 1970 as part of a larger development called The Village which included several churches and businesses including Sears Roebuck & Co.'s downtown department store and many other popular tourist destinations such as Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park and Auburn University's football stadium (now Sparkman Stadium). In 2000, much of North Side Middle School were destroyed when Hurricane Katrina caused extensive damage to homes along Higgins Road just outside town limits; however all students attending NorthSideMiddleSchool reopened after their schools were rebuilt using state funds through No Child Left Behind waivers given to participating stateside schools affected by Katrina. In recent years there has been an effort underway by local businesses to redevelop old sections of town along Higgins Road into new generations of homes although no final decisions have yet been made about these plans

Center Point is a community in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2000 census. Center Point is located on the Red River and is bordered by Pike County to the east, Holmes County to the west, and Lawrence County to the north. The town of Center Point was founded in 1876 by John Witherspoon and his brothers. It originally consisted of a few hundred homes. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Red River and its easy access to railroad facilities. In 1886, Center Point became an incorporated municipality with a population of 1,500 people. In 1903, it annexed neighboring Pike County and became known as "the most important center point in Clarke county." In 1951, CenterPoint merged with nearby Polett City to form what is now known as Polett City-Central School District No. 1. In 1978, Polett City-Central School District No. 2 merged with another adjacent school district (Natchez-Hilton Head High School) forming what is now known as Central Alabama Community Schools District No. 3C - which includes Polett City-Central School District No2A & B from 1978 until 1997 when they all were dissolved into One Central Alabama Community Schools District #3C

In 1815, the United States acquired Florida from Spain and set out to populate it with white settlers. This campaign led to the Mexican-American War (1846-48). On October 20, 1847, U.S. troops attacked and destroyed a Mexican army forts at San Jacinto Heights in Texas during the Battle of Palo Alto. This event signaled the beginning of American control over Mexico and its territory north of Rio Grande River. In 1840, land about 35 miles (56 kilometers) southeast of Montgomery was patented to James Fenton by John Marshall for $3 per acre ($22 per kilometer). The town called Fentonville was established on this land in 1845 as a result of this grant. In 1850, Montgomery County was created from parts of Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties within Alabama; Montgomery became its county seat. In 1861, Robert E. Lee surrendered his forces at Fort Donelson after Confederate forces were defeated at First Manassas Bridge near Loudoun County VA on April 12th 1861; this event marked the start of World War I (1861-1918).
