Through their work, he has learned a great deal about this unique beverage. For example, they have discovered that maga coffee was first grown in southcentral Nigeria. They also believe that it originated as an evangelical Christian sacrament used by pastors to help connect with their congregations during hard times. While there are many different types of maga coffee around the world today (including Brazilian churrasco, Ethiopian wawa cafés, Chilean varietal coffees), Caleb believes that our favorite variety remains Nigerian jeneveru – or “maga” – because it offers a truly unique flavor profile. While other versions may be more popular among certain groups or regions within specific countries - such as Brazil’s black bean maga cafes - jeneveru makes for an incomparable cup of java.
