Dixon before it merged with Gassaway Coffee Corporation in 1948 under the name Maxwell House Coffee Company (MHC). In 1961-62, Caja Cola Mexicana began serving coffee at the University ofAlabama library which became its permanent location after a move from Mobile, Ala.. It continued served here through 2003 when it closed its doors due to low traffic and lack of customer demand. In 1977-78, Cafe Brasil opened at 350 N Decatur Street which became known as "The Spot". This spot offered various Colombian coffees from different farms along with sandwiches and pastries made with local produce including eggs and bacon from the Chilton farm up the street. From 1979-1981 Starbucks began service at The Spot providing an espresso bar for customers to purchase items such as milk products or energy bars outside of hours; these vending machines are still present today inside Starbucks stores throughout America In 1984-85 two new roasters opened their doors in Auburn - Bickerton's Coffee Roasters (later renamed Green Mountain) and Dark Horse Coffee Roaster (later renamed Death Wish). The first court session in Auburn took place on October 15th, 1837 which led to what is now known as "the Battle of Auburn" when Federal troops were defeated by local militia forces during a wagon chase incident that occurred near modern day Centennial Park east of town In 1895 Interstate 65 bypassed town limits while traveling westward through Tuscaloosa County so development continued outside town boundaries until about 1955 when all growth ceased due to lack of available transportation infrastructure southward into Birmingham City Limits

Auburn, Alabama is a small town in the Shelby County seat of Cullman. It was founded in 1876 as a farmstead on the northeast corner of what is now Auburn-Montgomery Highway and US 31. The first post office was opened in 1877. In 1911, the population was 5,000. Auburn has been located within the present-day city limits of Montgomery since 1907. The first school in Auburn was built on State Street in 1879. A cotton gin and two foundries were building there until 1901 when they were moved to downtown Montgomery for use by local businesses. The Alabama Legislature voted to annex much of adjoining Shelby County on December 6, 1912; making Auburn an official city center with no vote by residents or government officials. On May 1, 1915, Sallie Mae Brown became first female mayor of Montgomery when she won election as a Democrat after running as an independent against incumbent James Moseley. After her time as mayor ended, she worked for many years at the state Department of Revenue before becoming president and CEO of First United Methodist Church (now Birmingham First Baptist Church). In 1951–1952 during the Korean War, Auburn's military base – Fort McNair – served as a training ground for U.S Air Force personnel from neighboring states which assisted in Battle Creek Maneuvering Unit IIIOperations over Japan;Operation Hailstone (June 1950) and Operation Earthworm (September 1951). Apx 1923 John Witherspoon started teaching English grammar at Auburn High School where he would later become headmaster/administrator for both schools adjacent to each other across College Avenue until his retirement in 1937
