The Atmore War Memorial is a national memorial in Atmore, Alabama dedicated to the fallen of World War I and World War II. The monument was dedication on October 26, 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower after his visit to Atmore. The memorial consists of a large granite in the form of a cross with an inscription reading "In memory of those who have died in the great conflict between America and Nazi Germany" On July 4th, 1957, President John F. Kennedy visited the Atmore War Memorial and dedicated it to American soldiers who had served in Korea and Vietnam. On September 12th, 2002, U.S. President George W. Bush dedicated it to service members from Iraq and Afghanistan who have fought there since 9/11/2001.

Since then, Mayor Art Acevedo has been responsible for running the municipality as it currently exists. Atmore experiences warm weather all year round with average temperatures ranging from 62 degrees Fahrenheit to 86 degrees Fahrenheit during summer months and 34 degrees Fahrenheit to 50 degrees Fahrenheit during winter months
