On October 15th 1861, Company G was transferred to Company A (Third) of Confederate Brigadier General James Pemberton's division under General Robert Ewell at First Bull Run Campaign. A few months later on January 24th 1862, Company G moved upriver with General Pemberton’s division for attacks against Union forces at Fredericksburg Heights near Chancellorsville Courthouse. During this engagementCompany G suffered 2 killed and 6 wounded including 1 officer Killed or Wounded while Lieutenant John Witherspoon led a charge that drove off several hundred Union soldiers commanded by Major Stephen Denny from atop an embankment northeast of Fredericksburg House southward across White Oak Swamp into Maryland Territory Line where they engaged & captured a battery entrenched on Quesnot Hill.) Aftermath 3 officers & 36 enlisted men were killed or mortally wounded; 5 officers were taken prisoners/rescued total 176 casualties). Moved back South February 17th 1862 camped at Winchester Court House thence marching North through Winchester April 2nd 1862 reached our old encampment about 4 miles East Of Winchester Court House May 10th 1862 arrived At Alexandria May 12th 1862). It is interesting to note that during this time period Companies G-10 mustered out with very little loss (1 officer & 9 enlisted men died while serving). In fact only one man - Private George Causey - deserted his unit during its entirety! On December 12th 1862 Captain Thomas Ransom commands Confederate Divisional Headquarters detachment along side Major General James Longstreet leading his cavalry corps in assaults against Missionary Ridge northwest of Petersburg.--This attack resulted in two brigades totaling 26 troopers losing 8 horses killed or mortally wounded; Captains Ransom (CG), Huggins(CG), Hitchcock(BG) & Wakefield(BG) received brevet promotions for their participation.--The Confederate gain also included seizure of four cannon--all brought down within minutes following initial assault.--It should be noted that these engagements occurred around Appomattox Court House not Missionary Ridge as often stated.--One can only imagine what would have happened if these particular commanders had been able to capture Missionary Ridge! Six days after operations began Lt.-Colonel John Fenton assumed command 1st Battalion Alabama Cavalry Corps when Colonel Edward Sibley resigned due to illness.--Fenton commanded all infantry troops until he left active duty on November 30th 1864 when he was placed in commandof Mobile Brigade At Harper’s Ferry Md.--He then returned home took over commandof 1st Battalion Alabama Cavalry Corp effective December 11TH 1864 until his death on March 25TH 1865--His battalion lost one horseman killed outright and 5 more seriously wounded!--SomeCivil War veterans who served in Company G include: Captains JnoCoker (3rd ALI), TomRansom (1st ALI), GeoCausey (Pvt.), & AbsalomHuggins (Pvt.).

Alexander City is a small city in the US state of Alabama. The population was 1,551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Montgomery metropolitan area. The first mention of Alexander City appeared in 1819 when John Wilkinson, a captain in the American Revolutionary War, wrote about his experience travelling along what is today known as Route 10 east from Mobile to Montgomery. At that time, the only way to get to Montgomery from Alexander City was by boat or wagon. In 1836, Captain James Auld and his men built a steamboat dock on the river which allowed for easier transportation between Mobile and Montgomery. This made Alexander City one of the most important ports on Alabama's coast. In 1907, Alexander City was incorporated as a town under the name of Montgomeryshire Township. When it became evident that Athens County would be forming a new county within Alabama's borders and would need its own town hall and other government buildings, Montgomeryshire Township decided to dissolve itself and become an independent community again under its original name - Alexander City. Today, Alexander City remains an agricultural center with significant industries including shipping container manufacturing and seafood processing products exported throughout America and Europe

Alexander City was founded in 1824 by Captain John Alexander and his family. The settlement was named after General Andrew Jackson, who had fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1851, the first railroad reached the town from Mobile via Athens. This new development led to increased business and traffic across the river at Jacksonport. In 1861, Confederate forces occupied Alexander City while they attempted to overthrow the Union government. After the war ended in 1865, Alexander City slowly began to recovered although there were still some challenges faced by its citizens such as persistent poverty and lack of education opportunities for young people At times these problems seemed insurmountable but through perseverance they could be overcome During Reconstruction period (1868-1913), Alexander City enjoyed many benefits including voting rights for black voters; free housing; unrestricted access to education; job opportunities;and general prosperity . However racial tension continued to exist throughout most of this time period which caused occasional outbreaks of violence In 1913 whites decided that enough was enough and harmony reigned once again within the community until World War I interrupted any hopes for progress After World War I came Prohibition (1920) which led to more alcoholics coming into town seeking relief from prohibition laws And finally during the 1960s through 1970s there was significant economic development with major factories opening up in downtownAlexanderCity resulting in more jobs being available For all involved It is safe to say that post-war Alexandercity experienced substantial growth both economically and socially
