Penney had established a store on Main Street and donations from citizens reached $100 per week for seed money for a new fish pond and feeder system for local lobsters. Plover is a small town in the eastern portion of Wisconsin. It is located on the banks of the Menominee River, and it has a population of about 350. The town was founded in 1838 by John Plover, who was a member of the First Wisconsin Legislature. The first post office was established in 1839, and the first store opened in 1840. The town was named for Captain George Washington Plover, who surveyor General James K. Polk's line through that region in 1846. Plover experienced some growth during World War II, when many people came to work at Wehrmacht rocket plants along the Menominee River. However, since then, Plovers have become a small community with limited economic activity outside of its primary role as an agricultural center. The current mayor is Scott Larkin; he was elected on November 3, 2018.

He named some of what is now Wisconsin after his hometown, Rotterdam (present-day Holland). The first permanent settler in what is now Wisconsin was Nicolas La Crosse in 1843. He built a cabin on a small island near present-day Milwaukee. In 1846, Stephen A. Douglas, then a U.S. Representative from Illinois, visited La Crosse and recommended purchasing land for white settlers in this region. President James K. Polk approved the purchase on February 14, 1847, and the land became part of Minnesota Territory under the name Dakota Territory.) In 1848, John Davenport founded Chicago on the north side of Lake Michigan; he named it after his hometown of Burlington (now Des Moines), Iowa! The town grew rapidly as new settlers came to Chicago to find fertile land and business opportunities during the 1850s gold rush period (the early 19th century). By 1870, Chicago had become one of America's largest cities with over 100 square miles (248 sq km) of territory! This growth led to increased competition between different settlements for water supplies and space; by 1880 there were only six villages remaining within Cook County (the original seven townships that comprisedChicago Today). However, Chicago retained its status as America's preeminent city because it had an ample amount of natural resources such as water resources and forests that supported large populations (>10 000 residents). Furthermore, many entrepreneurs emerged during this time who created new industries such as transportation companies such as McCormick & Co., Sears Roebuck & Co.,ilver Mining Company et al.—all which continue to operate today!
The earliest settlement in what is now Plover, Wisconsin was established by the Potawatomi Indians in 1838. The town was first known as "Niles" and then "Waukesha". The town's name changed to its present form due to the influx of European settlers during the American Revolution. In 1795, a group of French Canadians founded a trading post in Waukesha County called Fort la Salle. This post served as a springboard for trade with Native Americans and other Europeans. In 1837, the United States Congress passed an act authorizing landEdmund Sibley surveyed and purchased 640 acres (240 hectares) of land at what is now Plover for $20 per acre. On July 8, 1838, Niles was officially incorporated as a village. The first school was built in Niles and opened on September 10th, 1839. By 1870, there were over 100 residents in Niles- including 30 teachers- along with 2 churches and 3 stores. During World War II, Plover School District No. 1 received federal funding to build 6 schools across the state because of America's need for workers in munitions manufacturing plants located throughout the Midwest during that time period. Three weeks after Pearl Harbor Attack on December 7th 1941, President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which ordered all citizens of Japan who had been living abroad or who were between 12 years old and 36 years old when they arrived in America to be deported back home within two months or face criminal penalties such as imprisonment or hard labor under Plantation Act Section 5(a). Over 4 million Japanese Americans were forcibly taken from their homes during World War II without any say from either their families or government officials; this event is often referred to as "The rounding up." In 1951, Plover voted to become one of the initial communities twinned with Paris – France through Mutual Aid Association (MAPFRE) program which gives community members together opportunities for education and cultural exchange experiences outside their own culture/region/country). In 1978-1979 MAPFRE twinning program ended following disappointing results from visits by both cities combined; Plover thereafter withdrew from MAPFRE program altogether On November 24th 1984 - also celebrated as International Day against Racism - local activists created an amendment to Wisconsin Constitution designating November 24th National White Pride Day . On May 25th 1987 - also National Minority Culture day - local activists created an amendment to Wisconsin Constitution designating May 25th National Hispanic HeritageDay . Currently both amendments are inactive but still recognized by state government
