The Coast Guard has been in operation in Greenfield, Wisconsin since 1915. The first coast guard station was established on the north side of town in 1915. The current Coast Guard Station was built in 1969 and is located on State Highway C. The Station provides law enforcement, search and rescue services, and public information to the community. It also operates a communications center which includes an FM translator for local use. In addition to its primary role as a law enforcement agency, the Coast Guard also offers educational opportunities to locals through various programs including safety training programs for children and adults, navigation courses for junior members of the population, and maritime science classes for high school students. The history of gift giving to the Coast Guard can be traced back to at least 1915 when a group of citizens banded together to create a volunteer organization called the Conservation Corps. This group worked hand-in-hand with local businesses to provide grants and assistance towards equipment purchases for the fledgling Coast Guardsmen that would patrol our coastal communities. Over time these donations grew into something more than just gifts; they wereHomecomings! These special occasions were often attended by Mayor Harry Flournoy or other senior officials who would distribute refreshments and newly acquired items from local businesses such as bakery etc……..toobilized Coast Guardsmen enjoyed every moment spent aboard their vessel serving their country during World War I & II…..Many items still remain on display at Station today such as postcards sent home from service (1915-present) along with medals & badges earned during those wars It wasn’t until 1969 when Greenfield’s first Commandant was appointed that things began to change significantly within the Department; however many people continue to give generously off shore thru events like boat shows/parties etc…..Since then we’ve seen an expansion within our Community Services Dept which now employs 3 officers full time who work out of both Stations….We truly appreciate all your contributions over these many years

Greenfield, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the Driftless Area of the Great Lakes region. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. Greenfield lies on the eastern border of Sheboygan County and is bordered by la Crosse County to the north and east, Manitowoc County to the south and west, and Kenosha County to the northwest. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Greenfield in 1836. They were led by Captain John Fitch, who named their settlement after his home village in England. There were only a few dozen people living here when Ohioan Nicholas Hennepin discovered coalmines near present-day Greenfield on November 12, 1847. Fitch saw potential for this coalmine in Canada but decided not to pursue it because he believed it would be too expensive to build a mine there; he instead took his group backpacking across North America until they reached Illinois on December 7th. The discovery of significant amounts of natural gas reserves nearby led him to reopen his mine in 1850 with better equipment and more than 1 million cubic yards (100 metric tons) of coal mined that year alone! In 1865, railroad construction began through Sheboygan County and soon Greenfield became an important stop on these lines; its location made it convenient for travelers looking for meat markets or other supplies from Canada or Illinois along the way. By 1880, however, many small businesses had closed down due to competition from larger665 mills operating through central Wisconsin at that time—a situation that would continue until World War II when large manufacturers moved out southwest intoSheboygan County (and then Outagamie County). In 1955, one third of all manufacturing jobs within Milwaukee county were lost during McCarthy's height inflation era; however during those years over 60% of all employment was within 10 miles (16 kilometers) of downtown Milwaukee proper! Today much like then-newspaperman Fitch – today’s generation has seen great progress throughout their lifetime as we have developed new technologies such as fiber optics which has brought us internet access where ever we are! With advancements comes change so our town has also seen some ups and downs such as losing most jobs post-911 but slowly gaining back many including some high tech companies such as Apple Incorporated which recently relocated their HQ from Chicago IL

Greenfield (population: 11,362) is a city in and the county seat of Greenfield County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 12,871 at the 2010 census. The city's namesake comes from an early settler named Greenfield. The first white people in Greenfield were Capt. Joseph Merrill and his family who arrived on July 4, 1836 from Nauvoo, Illinois. The Merrill family had been expelled from Nauvoo after the Mormon church's religious trial there on April 6-7, 1835. Captain Merrill built a cabin near what is now downtown Greenfield with his own resources in 1840 while hewait for additional settlers to arrive via the Santa Fe Trail. In 1846–47 when Congress approved the Kansas–Nebraska Act which granted slavery permission to be conducted in Iowa and Missouri, residents of Greenfield voted not to secede but did not attend any meetings set up to promote their decision because they believed it would depend on future congresses action regarding slavery expansion into Wisconsin Territory. Massachusetts abolitionist John Brown alias "Black Jack" Arbuckle offered one day's free labor for every $5 worth of goods delivered to him at a local store in town center; this became known as "Bread and Water Day." A group of about twenty men gathered around Arbuckle during Bread and Water Daybreak prayers before starting their wagon journey into town where they sold bread for 3¢ each and water for 1¢ each to support themselves until evening prayers could be held that night by Friends Meetinghouse across the street from where they lived (). On January 24th 1848 five patriots (John Noyes, Osborn Perkins Jr., Isaac Aspinwall/Aspinwall brothers/George Henshaw), David Lane (the son of tanner David Lane), John Caffrey (a blacksmith)and James Freeman rode into town with three horses saddled with bridles only to find that all other stores were closed due to snow ... except two hardware stores which opened at 8am because they received shipments overnight ()...Nathan Woodruff (), one of the founders of Milwaukee also stopped by at home after leaving his farm west of town on horseback (), bought supplies including flour, bacon & ham(), pork chops (), coffee filters (), oats ()... perimeter wire fence was erected around community soon after (). In 18502200 new lots were platted within town limits - most lying east side between Center Street northward and State Street southward - some lay west side between State Street northward and Center Street southward (). This newly developed area included many fine residences such as Drury House () built by Jonas Drury Sr.; Fenton House (); Norton House (); Hubbard House (); Carruth House (); Kapp Family Farms; Amish country living started here too (). Most businesses located along Centre or Court Streets such as Wagon Wheel Tavern said owner could move if business grew too big; today some buildings remain standing like Bank of America building (), Masonic Lodge Building (), several churches including First Baptist Church () – originally German Lutheran but current property belongs to Episcopal Diocese; Staples Drug Store (); Peterson’s grocery store (); Sears Hardware Stores ; Peterman’s department store ()); Browning Furniture Company ($).; Congregational Church ($).). Many homes still stand today like Zimmerman house (/\/yesterday/) next door also occupied by Sleepy Hollow Bakery ())/. One hundred years ago on December 2nd 1865 when village lot number 5 was platted cornering Main Avenue Northtwelfth St.(just east off I-94 now part of Fond du Lac County), most residents were engaged in farming pursuits such as raising crops,, raising livestock etc.; few manufacturing operations took place here then either small toolsmith shops or machine shop operated outfitting farmers
Greenfield was founded in 1847 by Daniel Greenfield and his wife, Nancy. The town was named for the Revolutionary War hero General George Washington. The first post office opened in 1848. In 1854, the first railroad reached Greenfield and it became a small agricultural center. The population of Greenfield grew to over 1,000 people by 1860. The early 20th century saw an increase in trade and industry in Greenfield as well as growth in the number of businesses. By 1920, Greenfield had become one of the most important towns in Wisconsin with a population of over 5,000 people. However, during World War II, Greenfield experienced significant economic decline due to wartime shortages of goods and services. In the postwar period, Greenfeld began to experience rapid growth once more thanks to new investment from businesses and individuals alike. In the late 1960s and 1970s,greenfield underwent a renovation process that transformed it into one of the most modern communities in Wisconsin. Today, greenfields vibrant downtown is home to a variety of cultural attractions such as art galleries and theaters as well as restaurants and bars geared towards millennials looking for an urban vibe without sacrificing traditional values or lifestyle options.
