Green Bay, Wisconsin is a city located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 116,851 at the 2010 census. Green Bay is considered to be part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area, which has a population of 568,815 as of 2015. The first European settlers in the area were French fur traders and their Indian allies who called themselves the "Mouchettes." They arrived in 1692 and named their land after Saint-Jacques (George Washington) because he had been carried off by Native Americans while on a missionary trip to what is now Michigan. The town was founded on February 14, 1836, when railroad president James K. Polk announced that his company would build a line from Chicago to Milwaukee through Green Bay and connect with it at Racine. In 1848, Green Bay became an incorporated city under Act No. 9 of that year; it was made an unincorporated community effective January 1, 1959 due to its growth as a result of annexation by Milwaukee and other nearby communities during the early decades ofWisconsin's statehood process. Green Bay, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Racine County. The population was 634 at the 2010 census, up from 515 at the 2000 census. Green Bay is located on the Fox River in eastern Wisconsin, about 50 miles (80 km) north of Milwaukee and east of Chicago. It covers an area of 39 square miles (122 sq km), making it one of the largest towns in Wisconsin. The first Europeans to visit what is now Green Bay were French traders and missionaries who set up a trading post there in 1639–1640. At that time, this area was part of Canada and was not under Indian control as it is today. By 1795, most residents were white Americans who had moved there from other parts of Wisconsin or Illinois because of land grants or opportunities offered by British officials. In 1836 Green Bay became part of United States territory when it was organized as a city within Michigan Territory following the Louisiana Purchase from France. The population increased rapidly during its early years as Germans and Swedes came to live here after migrating from their traditional homes in northern Germany and Scandinavia respectively. After Minnesota entered into statehood in1858, most Germans left for good but some continued to live here until they lost theirillet status as citizens in 1924 when western Minnesota became a separate state with its own government-they stayed only until =>1928 when they were finally deported back to Germany pending settlement by American authorities which never materialized). Like many small rural villages across America during this time period, Green Bay's growth depended heavily on agriculture - grain farming being among the most important economic activities then available to village residents. This reliance did not last long however; prices for agricultural goods began to rise nationally beginning around 1850 and by 1870 much of rural America had experienced similar changes wrought by new technologies such as railroadroads which had arrived during this period also known as "theAmerican Revolution". With increasing competition from cities throughout America petechial quantities (water droplets)of pollution resulted due primarily to burning rubber products associated with automobilesmanufacturing at that time: these droplets would slowly settle on objects such as tree leavesand turn into particles dubbed "soot" which could be seen inside automobile windows even though vehicle windows were closed!

The first store in Green Bay was built on the current site of the Wisconsin State Capitol in 1839. In 1862, Green Bay became a city and was renamed Milwaukee after its founder, James M. Kelly. In 1903, Milwaukee was annexed into Green Bay, becoming one of the five cities that made up the Packers organization.
