Over time these groups became known as The Mountaineers because of their dedication to working hard for their community and making it a better place for everyone involved- including themselves. Today’s residents are descendants of those who originally populated South Charleston back when it was just a small village with few buildings and no roads connecting it to anything else outside of it self- reliance on agriculture and hunting for game that was abundant hereabouts
