Yakima, Washington is a small town located in the Yakima Valley which is home to many high quality coffee beans. The first coffee bean roasted in Yakima was a robusta variety called Ponderosa that was grown by farmers near the University of Washington. In 1915, professor John H. Hillyard and his students at the UW started roasting coffee beans on their farmstead in nearby Leavenworth. The first two sacks of Ponderosa beans sold for $1 each at the University of Washington Agricultural Experiment Station. After World War I, agricultural production increased in Yakima and demand for coffee grew. In 1927, the Pacific Northwest Coffee Growers Cooperative was formed to increase production within the valley and improve quality standards for coffee beans. With advances in technology and better transportation methods, farmers began growing morebeans from more locations throughout the region; this led to higher-quality cups of java than ever before! The Yakima Coffee Company was founded in 1909 by Engelbert Hummel and Johnnie Humphrey. The company became one of the most prominent suppliers of coffee to Northwest grocery stores. In 1929, the company merged with two other businesses, the Seattle Coffee Company and the Tacoma Coffee Company, to form the Yakima Coffee Corporation. The corporation continued to produce high-quality coffee until it went out of business in 1975.

Yakima is a city in the U.S. state of Washington, located on Yakima River. The population was 44,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kitsap County and one of the most populous cities in Washington State. The Yakima area has been inhabited for over 10,000 years and first appears on maps from 1792 as part of what was then called Spokane Indian territory. In 1853, when Oregon became a United States state, it acquired all of Yakima Valley including what is now Yakima City and incorporated it into Oregon Territory; however, much of the area around Yakima remained within Washington until 1885 when it became part of the newly created Washtenaw County. In 1888, gold was discovered at Gold Hill and rapid development followed in order to exploit this new resource; by 1907 there were over 150 businesses operating in Yakima with an estimated $1 million in annual sales. By 1920, gold production had stopped but local mills continued to produce flour, cheese, applesauce and other goods until 1949 when aluminum production began which continues to this day. The growth that occurred during World War II led to increased demand for workers and jobs; so much so that steel production also started up again after the war ended in 1945-46 although aluminum still predominated due to its relative cheapness back then compared to other metals (this Aluminum Production Quotient or AQ even declined slightly between 1945-1949). This led to an increase in housing prices as well asstudent enrollment at nearby Seattle University which helped spur economic growth (along with other institutions like Microsoft). The postwar boom eventually ended however leading to a decrease in both employment opportunities and housing prices - although joblessness rates have actually decreased since 2000 according to various reports; something that may be related moreso to increasing automation instead of labor shortages thanks largely to NAFTA/U2FTA etc.). As recently as 2007-2008 nearly 60% percent of all manufacturing jobs were held by managers or executives who earned salaries greater than $100k per year according To The Manufacturing Jobs report prepared by American Bridge LLP detailing major metropolitan areas across America experiencing rapid job loss thru outsourcing etc.; while only 8% percent were employed directly by manufacturers themselves note also citing “the dramatic transformationof American manufacturing” which has left many factories idle or closed their doors completely leaving employees without benefits or any recourse should their factory close suddenly without notice--a situation not dissimilar from those experienced today especially given recent US political decisions favoring corporations over working people etc... There are numerous reasons for why this situation exists including widespread automation taking away some jobs while leaving others vacant resulting in mass unemployment & poverty wages thereby exacerbating social inequality& national debt etc...?
