Yakima is a small city in Western Washington, United States. It is the county seat of Yakima County and the adjacent town of Woodinville. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. Yakima is located on the Yakama Nation Reservation. The first people to inhabit what is now Yakima County were the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Trail pioneers who traveled through this area in 1847-48. After their journey, they built a log cabin near present-day Central Avenue and High Street in what is now Woodinville. In 1855, gold was discovered in nearby Stevens Canyon; however, development did not begin until after Congress passed the Land Act of 1889 which allocated land for townships within Yakima County. In 1890, John Sell began operating a flour mill at present day Mount Baker Road and Wapato Creek in what is today Woodinville while also selling lumber from his farmsteads along Wapato Creek. The first post office was established at Central Avenue and High Street on September 15, 1889; it was called Mount Baker Post Office because it was located on high ground near where Mt. Baker sits today. The name changed to Yakima Post Office on October 1, 1889 due to confusion with nearby Mount Rainier Post Office which had been renamed Wenatchee Post Office following its construction by George Cope Preston in 1903-04 as part of an effort to improve communication between Seattle and Tacoma during the Gold Rush era (the date Mountain View Cemetery would be founded). Yakima County was created on March 10th 1912 from parts of Spokane County when that county became one of six counties created during reforms brought about by Governor Arthur Vandenberg following the Great Seattle earthquake of 1906 which killed over 100 people including most than 25% of Spokane's population - an event that remains national news history despite having no physical impact in Yakima County or elsewhere outsideof downtown Spokane proper). As a result local law enforcement officials were able to interact effectively with citizens inside these boundaries without fear Of interference from State Troops camped out outside those limits! This policy continued until 1935 when all statewide notification requirements came into effect pursuant To Public Law 93-621 decreeing statutory changes resulting from World War II efforts at racial integration!! After more than 30 years witnessing social unrestrained by local authorities resulting from various factors such as wartime rationing shortages etc., Governor Harry Lewis ordered all Sheriff Departments within county limits merged into 1 single department effective January 1st 1947!!!!!!! All sheriff functions & personnel associated therewith have since been transferred into Department Headquarters located just north Of central avenue & Wapato creek

Yakima is a small town in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. The population was 993 at the 2010 census. It takes its name from the Yakima River. The first people to live on what is now Yakima were the Hohokam. They built villages along the river and hunted deer and other animals there. The area that would become Yakima was settled by white men in 1853 when John McLaughlin homesteaded land east of Capitol Hill. A post office was established at McLaughlin's farm in 1854. In 1861, when Washington became an state, it included all of Whatcom County except for part of the eastern border with Thurston County which went to Douglas County In 1870, about one-third of the county's population growth came from Yakima Valley which had been annexed by what would become Yakima after a vote by settlers in that year to make their own local government separate fromDouglas County. The annexation created a municipal government with a single incorporated town (Yakiman) as its governing body while Douglas continued to be responsible for law enforcement and education within its borders In 1903, Everett McKinley founded an agricultural colony called Mount Rainier Agricultural Experiment Station on his lands west of Dell Rapids Reservoir near present-day Deer Lake while he served as Governor of Michigan; this act helped give rise to agriculture as an important industry in Yakima Valley .
