The history of the Woodinville Army National Guard starts with World War I. The United States entered the war in April 1917 and soon found itself fighting on three fronts. In November 1917, President Wilson declared war on Germany and ordered all American forces to fight. Washington County was among the first counties in Washington to join the military effort. The county’s 1st Infantry Regiment was activated on December 3, 1917 and began training at Fort Lewis. On May 12, 1918, the regiment left for France where it joined the French First Army. For two years, from October 1918 until September 1920, 1st Infantry Regiment fought in a number of battles including Arras, Cambrai and St Quentin Canal Defile. After liberation from France, 1st Infantry Regiment returned home to Washington County on October 14th 1920. In World War II, 2nd Battalion (Light) 7th Infantry Regiment was activated at Fort Lewis on November 5th 1941 as part of Operation Neptune's Spear which led to Japan's capitulation in August 1945. The battalion served in China and Indochina until its departure for Europe in 1945-46 under command of General George Smedley Butler Jr., commander of ULTRA (the Ultra secret service). Upon return to America following hostilities end, 2nd Battalion (Light) 7th Infantry Regiment became Headquarters Company (HC) 464th Field Artillery UNIT during 1946-47 when that company conducted combat fire support operations against communist forces during the Korean War operations “Iron Curtain Offensive”; participating also in aerial engagements against targets within North Korea such as Kimchon Airport; Chonju Air Base; Wonju Airfield; Namsan Airfield; Yeonpyeong Island airfield before finally withdrawing southward into South Korea on July 25th 1948 after achieving unconditional victory against communism

This entrepreneurial spirit led Denny and other early settlers to develop what would become Woodinville; they founded a tannery and mill there in 1871 before moving their operations inland towards Everett after realizing that coal deposits could be found only near Seattle proper. By 1915, whenSeattle City Hall moved from Ballard into new buildings on Aurora Street NW., woodenvilleshad replaced Ballard as Seattle's largest civic center with a population over 100,000 people (though much smaller than present).
