The Wenatchee Police Department has a rich history dating back to 1881. The department was organized as the Wenatchee Sheriffs’ Association, and its first officer was appointed in that year. In 1916 the Wenatchee Volunteer Fire Department merged with the Wenatchee Police Department, and until 1919 the two departments operated separately. The Wenatchee Police Department was re-organized in 1969 as an all-volunteer department. The department currently employs thirty-six officers, including ten civilians working part-time. The Wenatchee Police Department operates a fleet of six patrol cars, a detective bureau, and three crime laboratories. The police department is responsible for law enforcement within the city of Wenatchee and its annexed villages of North Beech Creek, South Beech Creek, East Olympia, and West Olympia. Additionally, the department patrols state highways 61 & 99 in the City of Yakima and rural counties in Douglas County south of Kingman. In recent years there have been several protests against police brutality in Wenatchee – most notably during 2014’s “Occupy Wall Street” movement which led to several arrests by local police officers on nonviolent charges (including one for sleeping outside). However, while these protests may call attention to some problems with policing within the city limits they also seem to have had little impact on overall crime rates or staffing levels at the Wenatchee Police Department; in fact it appears that police raids targeting protesters are actually down since then (though this cannot be confirmed). A recent study conducted by criminologists at Western Washington University found that although violence against residents does occur occasionally by officers employed by other law enforcement agencies it is not typically considered part of their work environment or career path—and such incidents are instead more likely to result from interpersonal conflicts between citizens and law enforcement officials themselves rather than from any inherent criminality inside or outside of those agencies

Wenatchee, Washington is a small town in the Yakima Valley of Western Washington. It is the county seat of Thurston County and has a population of just over 7,000 residents. The main industry in Wenatchee is agriculture with most residents working in local farms or lumberyards. The first Europeans to visit Wenatchee were Jesuit missionaries who arrived in 1776. They built a small mission on the east side of the river near present-day downtown Wenatchee. The missionaries died during an attack by Native Americans nearby in 1810 and their remains were never found. In 1851, Wenatchee was incorporated as a village under the name "Wenatchee." The name was changed to "Wenatchee" after federal troops burned down the original mission complex on May 25, 1865. On July 1, 1907, Wenatchee became part of the newly formed Okanogan County when it was created from parts of Thurston and Pierce Counties. The name "Wenatchee" remained until 1944 when it was changed back to its original spelling - "Yakima." On October 15th that year, Yakima voters passed an referendum approving the changeover and naming their new county after Francisco Ximenez de la Portilla y Uribe y Crespo who served as president of Mexico from 1824-1828 and again from 1830-1846. It took another referendum two years later (October 15th 1870) before Yakima voters ratified a new Constitution that gave them their own legislature which then proceeded to pass legislation changing the spelling for their county name back to "Yakima." In 1906, Wenatchee had its first shopping center - Wanamaker's Arcade - which opened at Ninth Street and Main Avenue NW. At this time, most businesses located in Wenatchee operations outgrew Wanamaker's Arcade but continued to use it as their primary storefront until it closed all together in 1976 following economic changes that impacted both Yakima Valley businesses and retailing generally throughout Western Washington during this time period including Depression-era joblessness among other things. In 1977, ownership transferred from Pacific Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Company (PNNL) to First National Bank & Trust Company (FNB). FNB would eventually close up shop completely within 3 years due largely to competition from established banks such as Northern Pacific Railroad Co., Columbia River Bank etc.. That left only 9 storefronts remaining inside what is now known as Main Street Mall south of I-5 across from Safeway/Eddie Bauer Sportswear along with several apartments overlooking Main Street Mall before finally demolition began on October 24th 2003 completed just 2 months shy of his 100th birthday anniversary! A very brief stop at one building resulted when remnants of former FNB sign stands still visible outside recently demolished Safeway building prior door opening moments prior! Most recently there have been plans underway for redevelopment featuring multiple high end restaurants including Benaroya Hallmark Museums restaurant – sister restaurant concept designed byRestaurant Row’s own Benaroya Kitchen & Bar owner Jeff Ziegler – being developed adjacent site currently occupied by IHOP BurgerHouse; alsoALKER Brewing will occupy former Safeway location vacated by Costco; finally developer Denny’s Restaurants Incorporated has submitted plans proposing construction begin immediately upon completion revealing large rooftop deck capable Of accommodating up To 150 guests utilizing outdoor heating/cooling technology allowing indoor dining operation pursuant To posted temperature restrictions
